It's the only next gen console to not get hacked?

It's survived two years of not being hacked..?

Erm, SCEE suck?

All PS3's made now only have 2 USB ports, instead of the old models which had 4 USB ports, which included an SD card slot.

Actually, the PS3 just runs the application which folds proteins. It can't cure cancer, but it can certainly help achieve it. COmputer's can run it too..2008-11-26 18:20:00

Interesting tidbit about the ps3 - Walt Disney's head was bought by Sony and cryogenically frozen in one of the original 60gb PS3.2008-11-27 03:58:00

Well, it has two RAM's that add up to 512 mb. One for the GPu and one for the CPU. The GPU RAM is 1300MHz, and the CPU RAM is 3200MHz. The Xbox 360 has 1 RAM clocked at 700MHz2008-11-27 05:07:00

It plays pretty well but looks god-awful. :B Also, that shiny black chasis picks up scratches and dents like a *****.

Oh yeah, interesting fact: the CPU has 8 cores but only 7 are enabled at any one time so that if one breaks there's one to pick up the slack. Apparently.

They also out-do the original X-Box on size and weight, somehow. Gone are the days of joking about needing an extension built to house your X-Box, now it's PS3's turn to bear the shame.

Ok... Uhmmmm.. Microsoft has planned to add a Blu-ray external attachment to their XboX360 and have a small amount of models ready to ship. Why does Microsoft always have to come and SUCK UP all of the uniqueness out of things?2008-11-27 11:44:00

Because this is big business and they like to make money. Its not like sony doesn't take ideas from the other two and implement them on the PS3.

Clarification: Eight cores, all running. One is a "master" control that regulates the others. It assigns tasks, organizes it once finished, ports that to the graphics card, sound, network, etc, and essentially acts as a hub the others are connected to. The other seven are the workhorses, but that doesn't mean the other is a slacker. It's a rather ingenious system, really, because then no core is regulated to just one area, but it's all flexible and can instantly change tasks to whatever's needed. However, that's why there can be issues for developers who haven't quite mastered the architecture, because it's significantly more complex than a single processor setup. (Or multiple linked processors, as your standard duo, quad, or 360 tri, which is essentially one processor with the power of three.)

And hey, the 360 is pretty chunky, itself. I really haven't noticed it being especially heavy, despite rather frequent trips up and down the stairs to exploit whatever TV's not in use. Especially when you add in the power supply. And yeah, it is a pretty significant draw on power. But again, the 360 is not far behind.

Also: Ten bonus points up for grabs to the person who catches the reference in this post.
