Advanced dualshock motion sensor-tilting in the controllinator?
Archive: 6 posts
Hey guys, Maybe you recognise my name, I'm the guy behind the LBP1 level "The Attack on Sackville", but never published any other level after that... Anyway, I'm about to change that, but before I can work any further on my new level project I've got a question, so I registered here (something I should have done a very long time ago ) Anyway, my question: Is it somehow possible to do more with the motion sensing from the dualshock controller? I know a DLC pack for Move support is coming up, but I really want to use the forwards- and backwards-tilting with the DualShock in stead of the regular left, right and up or down-tilting options from the controllinator. Is there any way to do this? Please let me know Cheers, Morphweasel | 2011-03-11 21:43:00 Author: Unknown User |
What do you mean by forwards-backwards tilting and how does it differ from what you call up/down tilting? | 2011-03-11 21:48:00 Author: tetsujin Posts: 187 |
Edit: Oh nvm...Yeah I don't think there's anyway to do that...lemme check though. | 2011-03-11 21:54:00 Author: comishguy67 Posts: 849 |
@tetsujin: Well, the controller has six axis, hence the name. In LBP2, you can only control two of those, if that makes any sence. Some PS3 games however, make use of these other axis, by tilting or lifting the controller other ways. I was wondering if there is some kind of trick to do this in LBP2 too... | 2011-03-11 22:00:00 Author: Unknown User |
@tetsujin: Well, the controller has six axis, hence the name. Six axes of motion sensing, yeah... But only three of those are rotational sensors, the other three are linear accelerometers - thus, not "tilt". I wouldn't call "yaw" a kind of "tilt" either, though I guess if you're holding the controller upright... I don't think there's a way to get the extra axes at present, no. The controlinator only provides those two axes of tilt output... | 2011-03-11 22:09:00 Author: tetsujin Posts: 187 |
I guess you're right... Well, the idea was to mimic a gun with the controller, so the player holds the controller at one side in a vertical position, and by flicking your wrist upwards, the player can "shoot" the gun. By turning the gun to the left or right in that position, you should be able to move the character. At least, that was the plan... Just a little experiment of mine, but I guess I cannot accomplish this if no other motion sensing can be done with the dualshock in LBP2... | 2011-03-11 22:15:00 Author: Unknown User |
