Assigning multiple different outputs to one input?

Archive: 3 posts

I tried to search but this is a hard thing to find info on.

Is there a good way to assign multiple different outputs to a single input?

Imagine this scenario: You have a controllinator where square, triangle and circle all perform different attacks. In addition to triggering their own attack logic (obviously), you want to hook them all up to a single shared randomizer that will play one of several sound effects when triggered.

I got something like this to work using a sort of "tree" of three direction combiners, but it's extremely ugly and wouldn't scale well, either. Imagine the tree of direction combiners you'd need to use for 5 or 7 things triggering the same input! Selectors are no help, either, because it matches the number of inputs and outputs.

There's got to be a better way!

An OR gate would work quite well.

If you've got problems with the player holding one input and pressing another then you can run each signal through a pulse generator / pulser, which is just a counter set to max count 1, with its output looped back into it's reset.
