Frozen Flame-Chapter 1(Top down co-op RPG, 1-4 players)
Archive: 30 posts
A beautiful level created by Felkroth, I recently discovered this level after noticing in the Recent Activity that gevurah22 played and hearted it, 'nuff said. This level is incredibly fun and a great co-op adventure. I really recommend it to anyone who likes any type of rpg. There is a tutorial level that teaches you about the 4 different classes and their stats and such Lbp.me link to tutorial level: http://lbp.me/v/xr5sc5 Lbp.me link to first chapter: http://lbp.me/v/y-frxj | 2011-03-11 16:45:00 Author: damaz10 Posts: 771 |

Go check it out on MM Picks. Level: Frozen Flame. EDIT: This belongs in Suggestions. | 2011-03-17 15:34:00 Author: DominationMags Posts: 1840 |

The pictures of the environment look pretty cool. Absolutely. Take that anyone who says that the assets aren't any good for making top-down stuff look good The art-style (as far as I can tell from the few pics on lbp.me) feels very much like a table-top game, so it's kinda cool seeing that in LBP. Not too sure but it looks like the characters are sackbots in controlinators, which may ruin it visually (schooching around in a slidy chair doesn't scream "fantasy adventuring" to me) but I'm willing to give the benefit of the doubt till I've actually played it | 2011-03-17 16:32:00 Author: rtm223 Posts: 6497 |

Visually, story-wise and execution are all really top-notch. | 2011-03-17 16:41:00 Author: Chazprime Posts: 587 |
Say, is recomending an Mm Pick really fair, tho? xD I mean, it IS already an Mm pick and stuff, dunno how you can want more hype than that. | 2011-03-17 17:16:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
I was wondering about the feet too...I couldn't spot the controlinators in the pictures. It's a pity you can't have invisible controlinators w/visible sackbots that move their feet...MM needs to add this. Even the red and blue blobs in soccer for the Atari 2600 moved their "feet". I guess people could always make RPGs featuring ghosts or a planet of sentient hover crafts! | 2011-03-17 18:35:00 Author: fullofwin Posts: 1214 |

The assets for top-down stuff are fantastic. I'm having more fun creating like this than I have before in LBP. It can be limiting at times, and you're really forced to take advantage of glitch layers, but the possibilities are endless. | 2011-03-17 19:28:00 Author: Thegide Posts: 1465 |
Very cool level. That's a good basis for an excellent top-down series. Especially the visual enemy design is absolutely stellar. Enemy behavior could be a bit more interesting though. | 2011-03-17 22:59:00 Author: Linque Posts: 607 |
Pretty cool. Didn't play the tutorial but managed to finish it. I must play it in multiplayer at some stage.. | 2011-03-17 23:38:00 Author: midnight_heist Posts: 2513 |
Definitely try it out, guys. I've had this hearted for a week or two, but haven't gotten around to recommending it to anyone -- been too focused on my own stuff, I guess. The controllinators are there scooting around on the ground, but they are extremely well-hidden within most of the characters' costumes. The mage is a great top-down nod to the classic Final Fantasy Black Mage. Each character's abilities feel good and complete enough to build a game on, but also very simple. The healer feels a little bit uninspired, but I can't imagine making three separate classes for one level, let alone four! (It took me probably 100 hours just to build a friggan knight!) The level graphics are very nice, there's quite a large town full of cute houses with automatic doors... The monsters are really a highlight, I think. There are many games with a sizeable budget with less inspired monsters. They look great, their attacks are cool and tuned really well, and they react to hits in a satisfying way. The one that disguises itself as a rock and then spits out spikes is my favorite. Really awesome, takes me back to Secret of Mana My main complaint would be the (I think unskippable?) 5-10 minutes of cutscenes before you get to fight anything, which is kind of a bad design choice for a multiplayer game you might want to pop into with friends some time, but easily forgiven considering the sheer scale of what's done well here. Oh, the female laughing voice in the tutorial almost made me attack my tv. I recommend the mute button if you find it hard to read while someone is going into hysterics Anyway, let me know if anyone wants to play it in multi. Haven't gotten the chance yet. Sat through all the beginning cutscenes once only to realize my teammate (who joined randomly) had abandoned their controller. Alex | 2011-03-18 02:57:00 Author: Alic Posts: 81 |
Did no one notice the thread I posted a week ago about this? (looks in older recommendations threads) Yeah this was a great Mm pick and its definetly worth the 15 plus mins of playtime | 2011-03-21 16:51:00 Author: damaz10 Posts: 771 |

Has anyone played these series of levels? It's not complete but the two chapters and tutorial are sweet! Many are trying to make RPGs and it's so cool and inspirational to see one being made. Seriously check it out! It's also has been on the MM Picks. | 2011-04-17 13:37:00 Author: Unknown User |
It's been on every tab searchable in-game and I bet 99% of us have played it. | 2011-04-17 14:20:00 Author: BasketSnake Posts: 2391 |
I honestly hated this level. I found it tedious. I hate medieval RPGs anyway. | 2011-04-17 15:59:00 Author: lemurboy12 Posts: 842 |
Yep. Ive played both chapters and just like the post above im not crazy about medieval games myself but... I was very impressed with the work and effort put into it. 9/10 from me. | 2011-04-17 21:21:00 Author: RtooDee2 Posts: 175 |
I played as healer and i notice one irritating thing, lack of targeting system, it cast spells on random targets | 2011-04-18 15:53:00 Author: Shadowriver Posts: 3991 |

Say, is recomending an Mm Pick really fair, tho? xD I mean, it IS already an Mm pick and stuff, dunno how you can want more hype than that. Yeah.. FF is absolutely stunning and Felkroth is awesome but how about suggesting something that has a little less than 80,000 plays... I used to tell people that if they liked FF to play my top Down Vs RPG in her comments (with permission of course)... and I only got a few. Underground FTW!... Also theres a few ways to hide the controlinator fairly well. | 2011-04-28 18:03:00 Author: Dortr Posts: 548 |
This thread is actually 2 merged together, I made a suggestion about this just a week before it got Mm picked. Now this thread sorts defeats the point of recommending, although you guys can feel free to discuss more | 2011-05-01 18:24:00 Author: damaz10 Posts: 771 |
