Unharmable Sackbot?

Hey guys I have a question that needs answering, is there any way to make a sackbot not die if it's hit by any lethal material such as plasma or electricity? The reason I'm asking is because I'm working on a level that has a sidekick grab on to your controllable sackbot and follow you around. I have some powerups that activate and turn some danger tweakers on. As follows this make the controllable sackbot lethal and your sidekick dies from this. Is there a way to shield the sidekick? Not that I know of, which is very lame. MM are idiots not to add an indestructible tweak. I think the only options are the ones suggested. Yeah, you'll need to make the sidekick lethal too. If you don't want him to be lethal except for when he's touching your controllable bot (so when they're touching, he'll just be an extension of your bot, but when not touching, he'll be normal), stick a tag on your controllable bot for each type of lethality you're using and set the same logic that turns on the lethalizer to turn on the tag (so, for example, you could have a tag that says "fire," and one that says "plasma," and so on). Put one impact sensor on the sidekick for each lethalizer you're going to be using, set it to "include touching"=YES, key it to the tag on your controllable bot, and hook it to a corresponding lethalizer. So, if your controllable bot plasmafies, a tag labeled "plasma" lights up and if your sidekick touches him, his "plamsa" impact sensor will be triggered and he'll plasmafy too. There's a problem, though: you can't grab lethalized objects or bots even if you've been lethalized exactly the same way. So what you'll want to do is tweak Shadow_Wolf's suggestion. Make a chunk of holo, stick a follower on it with "allow layer change" set to YES, key the follower to a tag on your controllable bot, and add a material tweaker with grabbable enabled. The only problem with this is I'm not sure if the follower will be strong enough to lift the holo when your sidekick is hanging on--movers' strength is based on the mass of the object they're placed on and holo has very little mass. You might need to stick two or three followers on the holo (yes, adding multiple followers does increase their strength). Oh, and I believe theck is no longer grabbable in lbp2, so you'll need to use thick or thack... but I can't think of any reason why you'd want to use theck anyway. | 2011-03-12 00:50:00 Author: Sehven ![]() Posts: 2188 |

Oh cool. I just thought I'd read somewhere that somebody had tried it and it didn't work and I never bothered to check 'cuz it's easy enough to make invisible holo grabbable in the thick layer. I have been fighting with this one...the biggest issue with lethalize in my level is I am using rockets. I place a projectile sensor on a follower that emits a shield if anything goes through the follower and blocks the sackbot...a very small invisible antimatter...not sure that will work for you...and the material tweaker is soooo anoying because like they said only option is not grabbable. I am told with a controllinator they become indestructable...so perhaps placing one in them and overriding its controls with a secondary sackbot brain so it thinks you are conrtolling it, but at the same time you are not?
