Magic Mouth's "Ducker" Option?

:kz: Does anyone know what this does? | 2011-03-11 00:45:00 Author: IronSkullKid99 Posts: 515 |
A ducker is a dynamics processor/process that lowers (or "ducks") the level of one audio signal based upon the level of a second audio signal. So in the Magic Mouth it means that it will automatically lower the music and/or effects or other sounds in the level during playback of the recorded audio in your Magic Mouth. Hope this helps. | 2011-03-11 03:30:00 Author: v0rtex Posts: 1878 |
Hope this helps. In case it doesn't, I'll explain it a bit further and why you might want to use it. It will lower the volume of your music or sound effects so that your dialogue can be heard more clearly over top of them. I always turn my Ducker off initially, then listen back to my dialogue while these elements are being played behind it. If I can't make out the speech in my recording very clearly and I can't get a better recording, that's when I'll turn my Ducker on. It really depends on the quality of your recordings as to wether or not you might want to use it, how important your dialogue is on any given "take", or possibly using it for a bit of dramatic effect. | 2011-03-11 03:52:00 Author: Rustbukkit Posts: 1737 |
And here I thought it makes the voices not echo. What a fool I was. Thanks guys. | 2011-03-11 04:02:00 Author: Devious_Oatmeal Posts: 1799 |
Not a fool at all. It's a pretty specific technique used by audio engineers and technicians in the film/television industry... there's absolutely no way the average person could or would ever know that. To be honest, I don't even know if any of the tutorials covered this tweak. | 2011-03-11 04:08:00 Author: Rustbukkit Posts: 1737 |
Well, if memory serves, nope, they didn't. But I have Alzheimer's so even I wouldn't believe me. (I really don't, but I have terrible memory) Also, I thought it would take away echos because a duck's quack doesn't echo........ So the theory has been foretold. XD But when you described it, I thought it sounded familiar. Every time I saw the ducker option, I kept thinking movies. Thanks again. | 2011-03-11 04:54:00 Author: Devious_Oatmeal Posts: 1799 |
I've heard that about duck's too. Even though it's not true... they are strange birds. I don't trust any animal that wears a disguise. http://i702.photobucket.com/albums/ww28/Rustbukkit/ducks-wear-dog-masks.jpg | 2011-03-11 06:01:00 Author: Rustbukkit Posts: 1737 |
