so i got a new graphic card for my pc so i can play sims 3, yet however when i was playing, the computer's driver failed and the game froze on me and gave me the blue screen. So when when to check on the graphic card and instead of it being the one i purchased, its a different one called "Intel(R) HD Graphics". So can someone tell how i can make my computer detect the new graphics card i bought?2011-03-10 21:49:00

Uhh.. I can't say for sure about that, but I advise you to:

Step 1: Go back to the place you purchased it at with receipt in hand

Step 2: Head straight to customer service.

I'm sure they'll understand. And as far as I know, if the card isn't compatible with your PC from the getgo, you won't be able to make it work. Hope this helped a little.

Sounds like your PC's switched you back to it's integrated graphics, couldn't say why though. I'd do what Lucky suggested, or ask for help on a dedicated PC forum.2011-03-10 23:20:00

You just need to configure the computer settings so that the computer knows which device to use. This is usually done in the BIOS. Also make sure to use the most up to date software and/or drivers for the device to ensure maximum compatibility.2011-03-11 06:38:00

Hmm, there should be one unless the card is not installed correctly. The motherboard should be able to detect the new video card as soon as it is inserted and your computer normally alerts you if it has detected new hardware installed. Was there any pop up message regarding any recently installed hardware? You might need to double check that the video card is fully compatible with the computer especially with the motherboard. Also double check that the card is installed correctly. Make sure it is connected securely in the right PCI slot.
