I picked up my copy 2 days ago, have not played it yet due to the fact that I still had yet to finish ME2 (which I did last night). Will be spending a lot of time with it this weekend though 2011-03-10 06:59:00

Was very unimpressed with Dragon Age: Origins - just found the entire setting too bland and uninteresting - like a cheap immitation Lord of the Rings, and I found the combat system to be incredibly bland and repetative - with no real "combat" feel. You can tell they have tried, but I think they failed.

The Character origins part was a good addition - but the rest of the game was sorely lacking.

No real interest in picking up the 2nd game, as from what I can gather, it's essentially exactly the same as the first.

Honestly i didnt like origins--i didnt finish it, i heard it was better on PC. If you didnt like the combat , you woulde defiantly like Dragon Age 2's combat, which is best played on higher difficulty imo. The story is kinda--weak though, but its entertaining because of the Mass Effect conversation System2011-03-10 18:36:00

SO is the combat radically different from Dragon Age Origins?

I mean , I've downloaded the demo, but haven't yet played it, haven't had the time or the gumption.

I found DA:O's combat had too much going on, too many AOE spells which affect your party and too many enemies in most fights.

I played through it quite a bit - hoping at some point it would start to get better - but it didn't, if anything the game got worse as you progressed.

It would have to be quite different indeed to rope me back into sinking my precious hours game time back into it.

The demo is kinda of horrible because enemies have WAY to much health--but yea its action rpg. Alot of hardcore DA fans hate this addition, but its fun for me. If you like action-rpgs you could get it--or rent it if your still optimistic (i would be). As for combat theres still alot going on, but thats to be expected in an action rpg . You can still pause and stuff, but if you hate doing that just play on normal or casual.2011-03-10 19:34:00

I enjoyed combat in the original (I beat the game twice as well) and I think the new system is leaps and bounds in head of the old one. It's faster, more satisfying, and if you have a problem with it being "dumbed down," play it on nightmere difficulty (or play Baldur's Gate, that game is punishingly hard). There's still a lot of tacticallity to the game.

As for the story, I thought it was amazing. Yes it had flaws, but it was new and ingaging. At least for me it was. It starts slow, but once it got going, I couldn't stop playing. I also like how your teammates no longer feel like they have nothing better to do in their lives but follow you around. This is still kind of true, but noticeably less so.

I spent the whole weekend playing this, really love it. The revamped combat system is amazing, the ME-styel conversations are a nice addition, the voice acting is as great as ever. The story is good but not as epic as DA:O. Overall it is probably my favorite release so far this year 2011-03-14 18:28:00

Nothing like Demon Souls...more like Oblivion but more structured. You do quests...main story quests/side quest etc.

I've never played a BioWare game before, I decided to pick this one up. I don't care for the battle system but the story/character interaction is quite good and keeps me playing.

I rarely know what is happening in battle, enemies warp In behind you, etc. I'm playing a rogue on normal difficulty, I'm getting by ok spamming aoe abilities and mashing x...I would have prefered something slower paced...but there's a good mix of story/fights so it's ok.

I've never played demon souls, its sorta like Fable with party members and the talking system of Mass Effect. I'd recommend it to someone who hasn't played origins or a bioware game. Most people that come away disappointed are loyal fans of DA:O or Bioware. Its more watered down than the original--like ME 2 was, but for the most part, the changes are good.

I just wish i could get out of Kirkwall, ive been there for the past 15 hours, while its fun, i sorta miss all the different locations in Ferelden

I thought the story was way more epic then the original. The only part of DA:O that I thought was epic was the very end, even that was a bit of a let down. The bosses in the DA2 were the best part.

@Fullofwin If you want a slower paced combat system, play the original. I don't like it as much, but it's still good.

I'd blame the lack of variety in locales on the fact that this game was made in about a year and a half.

Well looking at the message boards and reviews of the game it seems to be the one thing fans agree on, DA:O had a much stronger story but to each their own. The Blight and defending an entire nation by uniting all the different races is as epic as it can get. What part of DA2 have you found epic thus far? lol, I am 20 hours in and I am enjoying the story but it can't compare with Origins (and it does not matter because the game is great anyway)

I think the part that killed the epicness of the original for me was probably the fact that the "Going on a grand journey to save the world," is rather overdone, (that's not to say the story wasn't good). Oh, and I could wander around aimlessly forever and not worry about the darkspawn, you know, killing everyone. The epicness of DA2 doesn't really happen until the last few hours though. However...

*SPOILERS*
The giant rock wraith dude was one of the most memorable bosses I've fought in a game. The fact that Hawke took on a dragon only moments before helps with the epicness.
*END OF SPOILERS*

Probably the part of the story that kept me hooked was that it imediately establishs that, "You are really important," but it doesn't tell you how, or why. It also used very skillfully placed foreshadowing to keep me wanting to know the answers, which can differ depending on what you do in the game.
