In the market for a PC
Archive: 6 posts
So I'm looking to buy a new PC which will definitely be a desktop and will be used for playing games and surfing the web mainly my budget is around ?500, what do you reckon I should get? It's much better value for money to build your own pc for components sourced from all over so unless you see a really good deal for a ready made pc only tell me then. To be honest with you I'm not that knowledge-able about computers only how to use them but luckily my Dad knows alot about them so he will be able to help me build it. | 2011-03-09 21:22:00 Author: MasterCreator Posts: 464 |
aka roughly $810 for those of us in the US. At that budget you should be able to get a decent desktop no problem. When you say "play games" I'm not sure if you mean you plan on getting yourself a full-on gaming computer, or if you just enjoy playing a couple decent rounds of Sim City or Diablo. If you plan on playing games like Halo or even Crysis, you may have to go slightly above your budget to get top performance. Also, buying the individual parts to build your own computer will most likely end up costing more than buying a pre-built one. Or at least that's how it is here. Where you are you may still have the advantage of buying from small, third-party manufacturers for lower prices, but here that advantage doesn't exist to a significant enough degree to be worth while usually. | 2011-03-09 23:33:00 Author: Patronus21 Posts: 266 |

Um, I don't know where the other posters here live, but here on the intertubes there are parts for sale that when I was looking around, cost 1500 USD to have it built, but which I could build myself for around 500. A good place to start is www.techsupportforum.com in the build section (http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f255/). Ask for help, and you shall get it there. That's what I did. Now I just need to save up to get the parts. Here (http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f15/which-processor-should-i-get-to-go-with-this-549728-4.html#post3139624) is the post that tells what I am going to be using. | 2011-03-10 13:47:00 Author: Super_Dork_42 Posts: 1874 |
