Can you get banned for copying another persons level and either leaving it as normal or editing it to post as yours?

Thanks

If the other person has made their level copyable, you can do whatever you like with it.

Even if they haven't, you can still copy their ideas, as the LBP ToC's basically say that, by publishing a level, you implicitly grant legal rights for anyone to do as they please with the content it contains.

So you're fine from a legal POV, but whether it's ethical or not is another matter.

Yet again, if he IS planning to do it, and which is why he asked, do you really think he cares wether its ethical or not?

If you could be banned for it, why would there every be a copyable option? Wouldn't it be better as the 'Get banned for not creating your own level and just taking someone else's level and calling it your own unless you do plan to change it which isn't too much better but is still somewhat better than just plain copy and paste button' button.

But all in all refer to the above posts

If you however steal a level that is not published yet,
Better brace yourself..

that said,
you should just make your own levels,
much more satisfying and way less lame.

What a lame question. People who steal work disappoint me. If you can't build your own, then just play the levels you enjoy. We don't need duplicate levels all over the server. Secondly its their work, not yours, and you shouldn't take credit for other peoples work and dedication. Highly unethical. Same as thievery. Despicable. Its okay to share ideas and items, even okay to use items directly. Just give the credit that's deserved. That's my opinion anyways.2011-03-19 21:28:00

I would love to meet whoever made the Justin Bieber level copyable. Preferably in a dark alley late at night far away from civilisation where screams can not be heard 2011-04-15 07:37:00

Nothing wrong with it, though people generally don't like people taking their work and republishing. What level is it anyway, because no-one makes their levels copyable anymore.2011-04-15 10:09:00

There's still that dang Nuke Survival that's floating around....can someone squash that thing? Bomb survivals can be fun, I just don't wanna play the same one over and over. I think the copy option was originally intended more for things like tutorials, so you could copy something you didn't understand and get a better look at it in create mode. The fact that we see people attempting to take credit for each others work is nothing new; that's been going on for thousands of years...the fact that we as a community at large are buying into it so fully, now that just shows on the cool pages. Don't get me wrong, the majority of the people I've met here at LBPC are awesome and innovative (the cream of the crop, if you ask me) but somehow all these copied levels are still receiving tons of hearts, plays, and yays...
