Im trying to use a advance mover that is attached to block that has a hole in the middle of it and it is be threaded onto a wooden rail but when i connect the mover to the switch and when switch isnt being used..............the blockever so slightly

Do you have an anti-grav modifier on the block? If so, what is your setting for dampening?2011-03-09 18:06:00

maybe your wooden rail is askew?2011-03-09 18:07:00

What kind of switch? Bidirectional switches tend not to center nicely...

Basically what you need here is a "dead zone" for your switch. The easiest way, probably, is to hook up the switch output to a sequencer set to "positional" - on the sequencer, put a battery covering almost the whole range of the sequencer (all but a little bit at the far left end). Attach the output of that battery, and the output of your switch, to an AND gate, and the output of the AND gate to your mover. Now when the switch's output is below the threshold that triggers the battery, the mover shouldn't move.

try placing an antigravity tweaker on it and give it some dampening.2011-03-09 18:20:00

thanks for the replies im trying out that antigravity tweaker now

well i tried but maybe im doing it wrong

this is what im trying to do maybe someone can tell me how to do it

im wanting the player to come to a end point of a platform and then by activating a switch make a platform come to him then once the platform is where player wants it he lets off the switch and it stops

i thought by using a advance mover u could do this from watching the tutorials but i guess i was wrong

Sounds like a simple mover will suffice instead of an advanced mover. Add to the platform the anti-gravity modifier (set the resist gravity to 100% and the dampening to 90%). The dampening will make the platform stop when you release the switch. I believe you can also set the dampening of the mover itself, which may override the anti-grav.

KK will try that thanks again

yes that works almost exactly as i wanted it to but i want the switch to be able to control the platform in regaurds to going left and right cause with th4r simple mover it only goes in one direction when applying switch

Then you're using a three-position switch? I guess I was thinking there was a "forwards/backwards" setting on a simple mover. Regardless, you can use tetsujin's suggestion for creating a dead zone, or you can use two simple movers, one for each direction. Hook the output of the switch into a direction splitter, take the positive output and have that go to one mover, and the negative output to the other. Set the direction for each mover to be opposite each other.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned is the decceleration on the mover, if it is not the same as the acceleration the object will not stop when the input stops.2011-03-10 18:07:00

Um, I'm not sure why you would need two separate movers?, just use a 3 way switch (left, off, right) through a direction combiner? separate inputs to + & - will obviously allow you to set up conditional movement of the platform, for example you could have the player switch on the left motion via a sensor/switch whatever, and then automate the right movement based on whatever you like, you could even have a bot repeatedly set off the right/left motion until disposed of, just one idea. Happy tweaking!2011-03-11 15:49:00
