Sticker photos & lighting advice?
Archive: 6 posts
So... i tend to spend my create time making signs and stickers and other fiddly things (i've got 900minutes in create, a handful of semi-created stages and a ton of little things to show for it...sigh) Anyways, i've noticed a bit of a problem when trying to make stickers for signs and posters... it seems like there's always a shadow over what i'm shooting, so the colours always turn out a bit on the grey side. i usually photo over an empty stage background at 0% darkness. i put up lights around the object to try to cut out the shadow, but that always ends up on the otherside and washing the colours out. It's a tiny quibble, but maybe for exactly that reason it drives me right up the wall. i want my whites bight and my yellows lemony, gosh darn it! (As an aside, when i take gameplay stickers in stages, i never have this problem) If any of you can think of any advice on this, i'd really appreciate it. Thanks for your time and consideration! | 2011-03-09 00:44:00 Author: waffleking23 Posts: 535 |
Well if it helps you I always set the fog color to black, which GREATLY improves the picture. You can tinker around with the lighting of the level though to best fit what your trying to accomplish, I hope I was of some help ^^ | 2011-03-09 03:21:00 Author: fireblitz95 Posts: 2018 |
Are switching to Front View? This is usually the best way to take a flat picture of something without shadows. | 2011-03-09 04:26:00 Author: v0rtex Posts: 1878 |
Thanks alot, both of you, for responding, i'd have replied earlier, but there was work and then sleep. i've been taking the pics in front view, so that wasn't it. Changing the fog colour to black, though, was a great idea, and did nudge me in the direction i wanted to go. i use a ring of LED lights set between 50 and 100% to even things out, tinkering around with this one and that one to cut the glare. Thanks again, y'all... now back into create! chris, waffle king of osaka edit: playing around with it now, and this is weird, but it seems like the Islands background gives the brightest, closest to original colours...funky | 2011-03-10 00:49:00 Author: waffleking23 Posts: 535 |
So glad I could help ^^ | 2011-03-10 01:15:00 Author: fireblitz95 Posts: 2018 |
Here's another bit that may help. Have you played much with the lightbox in the Materials bag Lights? It can be made invisible, so when you go into Preview mode you won't see it. Because of this, you can place them anywhere. Don't know how much that will help you, but Morgana25 sold me on the merits of these little gems, and I'm starting to use them everywhere that I would have tried to hide LEDs in the past. | 2011-03-10 05:24:00 Author: v0rtex Posts: 1878 |
