RPG Combat System

Okay, I've been postponing the creation of my RPG series with other projects and outside problems.
So I finally come back to what I had already created and... I totally forgot what does what. I'm wondering if anyone can give me a tutorial on how to make a simple RPG combat system using Sackbots and maybe a "Enter Battle" animation?

This subject is too big to cover in one post. You need to break down the processes involved into smaller pieces and work out exactly what needs to happen in what order. This not only applies to a battle system but to all things you want to make.

If you wanted to make an ATB system then it might look something like this:


ATB gauge fills (if enemy action, delay) > once ATB fills enable player input and allow menu access > disable player input and start selected animation > calculate effects to health for either enemies or player, if enemy or player has no health end battle > start to fill ATB gauge (allow enemy action, if player has no health end battle) > ATB gauge fills...

I would start with a 1 vs 1 system. Multiple party members or enemies will get confusing fast.
