On Cool Pages - longer than 3 days?

Archive: 5 posts

Hello fellow Sackers,

Just wondering,

LBP1 used to have 7 days for Cool Pages, which was much later changed to only 3 days.

I assumed LBP2 was 3 days as well, but I published my level on Thursday, at 9pm EST. It got on and stayed on Page 1.

I assumed it would fade away last night. But I checked LBP.me while I was at work, and saw the level was still getting plays. I thought, "Wow, word of mouth must be strong". But it kept getting plays, so I knew that couldn't be it.

I checked when I got home - and my level is still on the Cool Pages on page 2.

Is LBP2 different? Have the days been extended? If so, how many days can a level stay on Cool Pages?

Thanks to anyone who can answer.

How did you get in on cool pages? just pure luck? or did you intensively advertise it or something like that?2011-03-08 17:16:00

Thanks - yeah, it's down now. But very strange - on the 4th day it was still on page 1. Finally, late last night it dropped to page 2 and then slowly faded away.

No, actually, I got on the Cool Pages twice. Once I put out a beta, just to get some feedback. I put it up at 11pm on Sunday hoping to get a couple of plays and feedback - when I woke up, it was on Cool Pages, page 2. But I had a LOT of feedback, and friend requests and PM's saying it was great and they were going to tell their friends to play it.

Once the beta was done and I tightened up some issues, etc. - I published my final version (on Thursday evening) - I invited some friends to play this time - this time, same thing. I think it was simply and "immediate" word of mouth. People played, told their friends, or brought friends back to play it.

So, no tricks - just published and it caught on. Maybe the times I published were good (so I put those in the post) - but, I think it was a little luck, and people liked the level and spread the word. (I worked on it for 2 months).

Sorry, I don't have any secret recipe. Just published.

EDIT: Oh, and as far as advertising - I had someone who was going to video for me - but they never showed up, so that fell through - and I posted a Level Showcase thread - but only got about 3-4 reviews. So, that didn't seem to influence much - for me anyway.

I don't know on what you basing on, but if on my analysis then by 3 days i meant it start to fall. Truth is you level will be on cool pages for long time but but in what position thats compliantly different quastion. You level is falling and how fast it falls depends how many good level (considered by cool pages algorithm) is going up, if there not much levels to replace yours then you level will fall slower, also depends how many level falling with you.

So again 3 days is time in which you level defenetly start to fall how fast thats diffrent issue. i seen known levels on higher part of cool pages (5 top pages) even a week.

But keep in mind 7 day rule is compliantly different thing and it's time when you level can reappear on cool pages after publishing when by republish, so you compireing having one chance to many chances. Old cool pages was like waterfall and who stay on highest point, new cool pages reminds cooking watter without bottom, your level bubble up only once on the list to highest point it can reach until it's start slowly fall in 3 days.
