Double O Trouble

Archive: 10 posts

This is a secret agent driving level I have been working on for a while. It has multiple weapons mounted to the car, a gps system and quite a few destructive elements. The cut scenes are skipable (although feedback on those would be appreciated also) and there are 3 different endings. It still needs some more tweaking so I would like to get some input on what the community thinks about it. I'm trying to make it fun with just a bit of challenge to it. I would like to add more of the destructive elements but it starts acting up if I add anything else. Anyway, let me know what you think.

Great background music, funny voice acting, interesting concept!

You should add more enemies to make it challenging.

Please give me feedback for my level too! http://lbp.me/v/y77btq

Thanks!

- amazing! a prius level without telling everyone who don't want to hear it again that the car is soooooooo goooooood. i find that annoying on the other prius levels XD
- why don't you do a constum sackcostum for the "da vinci"? i think that don't fits well for him to say double 0 and stuff, but funny to see
- you can get stuck when you can't drive back when the enemy cars are blocking your way... sadly. i would think you could make your car stronger pushing than the enemies are.
- i loved the voice acting. well done. but you should add subtitles as well - because not everyone is playing with sound. or understands spoken english as well as in text form.
overall a nice level!
just a bit confusiing with the finding bombs took me a bit to figure stuff.
keep it up

overall a 6/10

i would be happy as well for a small feedback on my skunk bunny adventures level linked in my signature! thank you!

I've been trying to figure out a way to put subtitles in with the moving camera but for some reason I couldn't get it to work. If anybody knows of a workaround please let me know. I appreciate the feedback!

Apparently you can only use the subtitle option when you have magic mouths on sequencers. Haven't played your level so don't know if that would damage your lvel or not, but hope it helps.2011-03-17 03:47:00

Heya Jeff,

Excellent work! I thought that voicework was amazing, and THEN I was trated to the actual game interface -- double-amazing! The top-down view worked great, and I'm impressed by how much out-of-plane detail you got onto the map, especially those windmills. They really add a third dimension to what should really be a pretty flat map.

The GPS was an excellent idea and well-executed. It couldn't giude you around corners, but luckily (wisely?) you designed the map with few real dead-ends, so it wasn't a problem.

The theme was excellent and gameplay was challenging but fun. Honestly, it took forever to perfect the art of pulling off a reverse-180 so I could shoot those dang Syndicate foos. You might want to have them follow slower so players could more easily get behind them.

My only recommendation is to add more landscaping. Some of the map is edged with mountains, but some of it was bordered by a plain edge. The buildings, cars and parking lots are incredibly detailed, but it would be nice to slap down random stickers or decorations on those larger expanses of grass. Some 3-D or even 2D greenery, perhaps?

I was also curious about the underscore in your level title. Unless it's important, I'd get rid of it, because it didn't give me a good impression to see what looked like a typo in a level name.

Really, though, a thoroughly excellent level.

Thanks. I will have to look through it again, but I could only get the word bubble to pop up when it was in range of the camera. I never got the subtitle to work.

The enemy vehicles are much easier to destroy if you use your mines at the right time. If I can get the subtitles working that should help getting all the instructions across to the player.

The level isn't that close to overheating but I started having problems adding those finishing scenery items you were talking about. Some ground sections would just disappear at random and then reappear later. I removed quite a bit to get that to stop. The only message I would get is that a section was getting to complicated. It would be great if it could be more specific as to where the problem was.

As for the level title, it had to be named that way for the contest. I will probably get rid of the prius part with the next update I do, or I might just publish a new beginning.

Thanks for all the feedback. I should be able to try your level soon now that I am mostly over my cold.

Ah, and it all becomes clear.

I forgot about the mines because I am foolish. I didn't notice, but did you label the controllinator buttons? That could remind players of things that they could do. I know I watered a few enemies and bombed several buildings when I started.

Again, great job. It's useful to learn what went through your mind as you developed your level.

Oh, and get well soon and all that.
