Dissidia Duodecim

So... is anyone else excited about the upcoming release of Dissidia Duodecim on PSP? It doesn't seem like anyone's even talking about it!

If you've played Dissidia: Final Fantasy, you should already know what to expect.

The expanded cast is going to be interesting to play with, and all of the characters seem to have slightly different move sets. They've also added an Assist feature where you can temporarily call in another character to perform an attack for you, which is pretty awesome IMO.

But the most awesome thing of all?
GILGAMESH!!!!!!

Well, all of the characters from Dissidia make a return, but some of them seem to have switched sides such as I think Terra, Tidus, Jecht and maybe a few others.

The new characters are listed here:

I think there are also some characters that are only available for Assist attacks, but so far I only know of Aerith.

I don't think Seifer is in there unfortunately, nor Auron, Vincent or Zack. But if they make another sequel on NGP I certainly hope they would be included.

I'm going to wait a bit on this one. I mean Kain and Gilgamesh is a win in my book. But the changes in the combat system (new moves, Ex Revenge instead for burst, and no sign of the accesory system) is going to make some people wonder if they'll still be good with their mains. Ok sure there were some flaws with the first one (Like abusing the aceessory multiplayer for quick and easy Ex Burst countering to attack, rinse and repeat). And I'm glad some characters got the revamps they needed like Bartz and Firion. But getting used to these new changes and learning/dodging the new moves is going to be long (and in most cases frustrating, lot of anger was let out from me in the early days of playing Dissidia 1) Also i was a little disappointed because i was expecting alittle more new characters (like i was expecting at least something for Yuna from FFX-2), I could've sworn i heard from Square long ago, that there was going to be another character or 2 from 6,9,and 132011-03-08 19:22:00

I spent close to 80 hours with the first one so yeah, I am looking forward to this! However, I have too many things to play at the moment to justify picking this up right now. Love to pick up Tactics Ogre as well at some point, still need to finish Valkyria Chronicles 2, my PS3 is getting all the love for the foreseeable future 2011-03-08 20:03:00

I've been playing the demo these past couple of days and it makes me realize I've gotten waaaay too rusty (or too used to the controls of Macross Ultimate Frontier). I'm slowly relearning how to read and counter my opponents though. Still having trouble dodging chase HP attacks.

The new assist attacks are pretty good for making combo chains and distracting the opponent. Unfortunately getting your assistant to actually land a hit seems to be mostly about chance (though actually it's about catching your opponent off guard with proper timing).

I only got two EX Revenge so far, only one of which actually ended up being useful. I'm going to have to learn to use it more before deciding on how useful that ability is, but so far I much prefer having an EX Burst (EX Revenge instantly drains your EX gauge, so you don't get a burst or anything).

So far I've played Lightning and Kain. Pretty interesting attacks overall (except Lightning's Medic paradigm), but I have some trouble landing both of their HP attacks (unless Kain is on the ground and I can spam Jump... what a useful attack!). The returning character's new moves caught me off guard more than a few times.

Can't wait to get the full game, I'll be continuing to try out the available characters in the demo in the meantime (there's actually more of them than I expected for a demo).

You aren't the only one. I'm glad I got a hold of the demo, it threw away my worries (Accesories, new moves/changes etc). The new HP moves are a real pain in the butt to dodge, barely lived a match when a character in the demo spammed one of them constantly.

Now that I finally got a hold of the demo and read a little more info on this there are only a few thing I'm disliking.

1: New chase system, the dodge timing for both are incredibly small, chasing is more like a flip of the coin now and all about luck, because you'd need GODLY relexes to tell your oppenents attack.
2: New Colleseum (Labrynth) sounds 10x WORSE than Dissidia's. You start "naked" (unequipped) and you have to progress through the colleseum, with door cards being like card luck (higher/stronger enemies, better stuff). Character cards add them to your party to use, dying just makes you lose that character (as long as you have 1 person left, you can continue), however if you die you lose EVERYTHING you gotten so far. Add that with the cheap tactics of last time (Enemies over 50 levels higher than yours, or with hacked multipyers) and add that with the new chase system and this becomes complete BS...
3: Feral Chaos (in JP he's called Desperado Chaos). As much as I like getting a boss character, getting him is ridiuclous with him having a 90x multiplyer (60 second activation for it) that makes him almost invincible (Brave attacks do 0) and he has 50-100k HP. (you have to kill him twice, levels 95 and 130 i think)

I'm most likely going to just play through story, then download a 100% save, I'm not going to break my PSP this time over Square's typical cheap BS tactics at end-game stuff.
