Launching a ball
Archive: 6 posts
Hi, I'm new to lbp and trying to do a simple pinball-like game. my problem is, I don't know how to make a ball launcher. I want variable power for the ball, not a set amount, sort of like an old pinball plunger, the further you pull it back, the harder its fired. is there a simple way of doing this? | 2011-03-07 17:05:00 Author: Kimw Posts: 1 |
if you are new to lbp i would suggest you try and start with simpler stuff untill you get the hang of the lbp logics. | 2011-03-22 17:49:00 Author: Luos_83 Posts: 2136 |

So either he figured it out or has moved on. I have a couple of solutions to the issue though if the OP comes back and wants an answer. | 2011-03-22 18:46:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
I have a couple of solutions to the issue though if the OP comes back and wants an answer. OP or not I'm interested in your solutions as well. I have been having this same problem myself, and I can't think of a way to get this accomplished... | 2011-03-23 03:27:00 Author: darth_sullivan Posts: 8 |
lol.. fair enough. One way is less than 100% pistons in opposite directions. One to pull back the other to pull up so to speak. I think the more elegant solution is to use a low to 0 strength stiff piston sorta like a tether and have a mover take the plunger down slowly, then when released have 1 or more movers set to go up very quickly. How you want to control that functionality is to taste, but I like pushing down on X to engage the down mover and then a NOT on the X to control the other mover(s) going up. | 2011-03-23 03:49:00 Author: jwwphotos Posts: 11383 |
Sounds simple enough. I'm gonna give it a go now and see what I can make happen. Thanks! | 2011-03-23 05:50:00 Author: darth_sullivan Posts: 8 |
