Mini Golf Issues

Archive: 5 posts

Hey guys,

I'm having a huge issue with getting my mini golf game connected up properly.

First off, I don't know how to hook up the adv. mover to use the strength scale option to be able to make the ball move in the direction the aim arrow is pointed in.

Second, I need to know how to hook up the aim arrow to the ball and the X button so that when it is pressed the arrow will change colours from green to red using the strength scale and then disappear when the X button is let go when the ball takes off.

Third, I need to know how you get objects to fall back to the back layers, like the ball is falling into the hole.

I have played a mini golf game that is in the Mm picks section and it is just awesome! I got inspired and am going to expand on the idea, by making all 18 holes and make them more difficult and interesting.

I have placed a crude drawing of what I have so far. If anyone is able to help me work out the issues on this, I would be more than happy to give the LBPC community credit for the help.

To get it to move in, simply put a in/out mover that either constantly tries to move it in or when it gets close to the hole. With a self restarting timer for example.

You can link the X button of the controllinator to a not gate linked into a counter set to one for the release mechanism, link that to one slot of an and gate and to the other slot you can connect a counter or a timer to however long you want the power charge to take. Connect X to the input of that as well. That way a signal will be sent out through the and gate when you release the x button. Link the and gates output to a mover set to speed scale and up speed to whatever the max speed of the ball will be. You might want to create a mechanism that turns the mover on for a short amount of time and then off since the signal from the and gate will be so short.

You can just create a halo object for the light, in the settings set it to dimmer and the on/off colors to whatever you want and connect the power charge timer or counter to it. Glue it to the ball in the same direction the mover is set to move and it'll point always in the correct direction.

Probably better ways to do this but this works.

Okay, but how do I get the in/out switch to constantly push? I tried testing this out in creation mode by placing the ball over the hole, and it wouldn't go in. Are there thick invisible walls or something? Should I place a tag in the hole and place a tag sensor on the controllinator circut board?2011-03-06 19:32:00

Like I said in the previous post, use a self restarting timer connected to a in/out mover. Either make the timer start when the ball spawns or when it goes near the hole, works the same either way. Set the timer to something low like 0,1 and it'll try to move the ball in every 0,1 seconds. Make sure the in/out mover is set to move the object in once in the settings.2011-03-06 19:40:00
