That game was worse than I thought. I never played it, but I saw videos of it. Like the section where you electrocute a bear. Then the part with the Alien twist.

I'm amazed it's only a 12+ rating there.

I saw a 7 year old pick up MW2 and give it to his father.
The father looked at it and the age rating it had.
He got down to speak to his son and said to him "Now son, see this? It means that only people above this age can play it..."
Now I thought it was super that this father was explaining the importance of age ratings.
"Now that means that if you want to get it you need to lie about your age. I don't think they will belive you at that size so i will get it for you today but next time, lie"
i had rage

It's all about content when it comes to those wretched ratings.

"If there ain't blood, boobs, bullets or bad language, then no need to worry!"... yeah right. -_-

What's the point of age ratings anyway?

It's not like they won't find a way around it, and they'll have seen much worse. The censorship of things like this is pointless as it leads only to further enquiry anyway, and how can you determine exactly what age someone becomes mature enough to play a game or watch a film?

Game ratings do have a point, just like movie ratings. They inform the consumer about the content of the game, and this can be very helpful. Many parents want to restrict what kinds of games and movies their kids are exposed to, and both industries are fairly good at self regulating. Not really sure what the first half of your second sentence is saying, but I can answer the second half: It's subjective and varies from person to person. I honestly can't give you a much more specific answer than that. Some people seem to stop maturing at 16 and are just idiot 30 year olds, while I've known a 12 year old that was far more mature than a 16 year old.

And honestly, every time I hear a 10 year old swearing like a sailor on XBL, I rage a little over what complete morons their parents must be. That's definitely the type of kid that's not mature enough for those games.
