318703186931868http://lbp.me/v/ykzwt-Welcome. This movie sort of carries on from Union Freight, in which it shows how Steam City's most notorius villain, the Machiniac, goes about carrying out his next evil plan of conquering Steam City.
1 player only, as more than 1 player may affect the voice recordings, pictures will be added asap. Enjoy

Thanks for the feedback ON my level man. I'm actually a good fan of your Steam City Levels! I LOVE The visualized style of steam-punk. And your levels do exactly that in a stunning fashion! This one was a great cinematic trailer. The Visuals were great as always (I loved the intense complexity of the Army machine) and the cinematic angles were fantastic too (Excellent intro angles). The humor was the seller. :] Celebratory pelvis jig for the win. Hearted and yay'd! Can't wait to see the rest!2011-03-07 22:37:00

Thanks PTdragon, im glad you liked it. I'll try your levels this afternoon, as for the voices fading, I done that intentionally, as to make it feel as though thay were still talking, even though the player was being led away, Oh just a side note to all who play it, make sure you turn the subtitles option from the start menu, that way you can read whats being said as well 2011-03-08 13:51:00

Got a real kick out of this...everythng was really well done. So many little details, great visuals, use of echo for announcements, etc.

The script was great and I thought the voice acting was excellent (was that you?). Sack person animations were masterfully done. The sackbot assembly machine was an impressive behemoth...the robotic welding arm was a great addition to the assembly line...all very impressive.

Can't think of anything you should improve...it's all amusing and fun to watch, great job! So are these movies all done with just lots of linked sequencers? Seems like an awful lot of work to make something this long/involved.

This is one of the best LBP2 movies I have ever saw! Great detail on the visuals, specially in the big machinery you created! Good voice acting too! And the story was very interesting, I hope you make a continuation of this.

Thank you all, glad you like it, putting all the animations and voices (yes i done all the voices myself using the playstation eye btw) together to work in sync took AGES lol
@fullofwin, the movie itself is a load of cameras linked together, and I use sequencers to activate magic mouths and switchs at certain points

I watched this clip yesterday and it was a very good movie.

VISUALS:
Your steampunk visuals always looked amazing. The sackbots looked cool too. The animation of the machine is exhilarating.

SOUND:
Great voice acting and music choices. Although I did see a fading voice as the camera moves away from the characters.

OVERALL:
An excellent cutscene with awesome steampunk style visuals. I think you need to change the level settings from cooperative to cut-scene. Great job! A yeah vote, a heart, and a positive review.

Good stuff.
Voice acting was great (in quality and writing) some of the best I have seen, sometimes the pace was a little slow so it dragged on at parts, but well worth watching.
I feel the worst part was how the magic mouths were cut. For example:
"Now I am going to go over"
*next magic mouth*
"here. And I am cool."
Really distracting visually imo.
The robotic welding arm was my favourite piece of visual/animation.

So its well known I am a fan of your levels and so naturally it was a must play for me. Overall, I thought it was done very well and have to agree with some of the comments about the voice over work. Visually, it was spectacular as always. My biggest down fall, like others mentioned, is the speed of the segment. It felt very slow to me at the beginning and I think that could be helped with some music going in the background - at times it was dead silent between the talking which gave off that slow, dragged out feeling. Music didn't actually kick on until the assembly line was turned on. Perhaps with that addition (and you can adjust the volume between the voice acting so its not drowned out) the fluidity of the level will be increased thus making it feel like your not waiting around for the next thing to happen. Also, I would encourage to have the voice acting not be directional at times because the voice does fade out and you can't hear what is being said (however, that may have been on purpose). Anyways, great job, I liked it!2011-03-10 22:16:00

Thanks all, glad you all enjoyed. All F4F will be done and reviewed today.
@MidnightHeist, I dont understand what you mean about the magic mouths, All dialogue was recorded on 1 magic mouth until someone else spoke, then when it went back to that person i used another magic mouth, all the voice acting flowed from one mouth to the next, where was the bit that soundined as though it was cut?
@John82wa, I know what your saying about the music, and i suppose the film is a little long (not intentionally i must add) but i cant add music, as that would break the feel of the level, and when the music comes in at the start of the machine, it wouldnt be as dramatic, plus, I couldnt find a suitable piece of music to go in the background throughout anyway

Hi, Blanchrocker!

I just played you level and found it excellent! Very cool characters and decorations, interesting main story and very cool cameras work! It looks like very good cartoon movie! And there are also very good characters voices! Only in one place when camera moves voice sound become lower, but it is not very big deal.

It is very cool movie! I love it! And will wait for your next creation.

Thanks, about that part where the voices fade out, before i made them fade out, i left them as normal, but it sounded very odd and out of place, as the camera swings to the opposite end of the machine, but the voices were at the same volume, I'll edit it later so they dont fade too quietly too quick 2011-03-11 09:54:00

Level is very good! I think you have already been told all the positive aspects in your level. I just can't be any sadder levels like this gain almost no publicity, what the hell why?
Minor problems: the machine moving with the robot on it - you could add some invisible or visible support so they would be situated on one place and not move each time when boards stops it's movement.
Minor improvement: when "his Excellence-ness" finally sees the machine in it's full size you could add "layer change" movement to him, it will add affect like he watches past the first machine.

Thanks Kashadooo , thats a good idea with the layer change, but unforntunately his already on the final layer, and I'll also try to sort out the sackbots from moving while on the conveyer too. I totally agree with your point about publicity, I do find it slightly off-putting, but overall, I do make the levels for myself to play and enjoy, and when other people enjoy them as well, It makes it all worthwhile lol 2011-03-13 11:42:00

I watched your movie earlier today and i totally loved it: The characters looked amazing, the voice acting was really nice and the scenery was great. I especially enjoyed the machine which had a great detail, and the ending with the 'you're fired' moment and the dancing celebration was just priceless. To be honest i can't find anything negative on your level it was very fun .2011-03-16 23:13:00

Hiya Blanchrocker,

It hardly needs to be said anymore, but your movie was most impressive! I thought the visuals were nice. Then I thought the voice acting was nice. Then I noticed the thematic and deliberate music choices and changes, the animations, the sound effects, the camera angles, and the lip syncing (OH, the LIP-SYNCING!) and I was blown away, never to return.

Very, very well done.

That said, the picky side of me twitched a little when I saw a couple of "I'm"s in your later subtitles become degenerated to "im". Fix that, and I'd wager your cinematic would be perfection.

By the way, I found the plot itself quite tragic. I was a bit odd to be slapped in the face by such strong cuteness and cruelty at the same time.

Sorry for the late comment but I just wanted to add to the chorus of those saying how much they enjoyed your film. The voice acting and the characterisation were just superb. You've created two very compelling characters in your anti-hero and his stooge ("your excellence-ness", lol!). That's a testament to the quality of the writing as well as the acting, actually. I look forward to following their exploits further.

Oh, and the visuals were excellent too but I almost take that for granted with your work, lol! XD

And to throw my opinions in on the top of the pile albeit after the general party has already finished.

I was pretty surprised by the voice and character of the villain compared to what I've come to expect from outrageous and cartoonish antagonists. Non of the vaudeville cackle and all the absent-minded megalomania. The voice acting is top-notch as well as the script-writing so it isn't a bad thing that you've gone against the stereotype.

You've also managed to get a good simpering and long-suffering lackey out of the supporting character. I like that both characters are grounded and fairly believable.

The voice recording work is clear and each character has a distinct voice so you've done well there as well.

The set design is very detailed and fun to see all the 'steam-punk' trappings that you've done so well in this series. I think that detail in the sets are more important in movies than in gameplay levels as the player is, generally, a passive participant and can take in a lot more of everything presented on the screen.

Your sackbot machine is amazing and does nearly does justice to the amount of screen time you dedicate to it. (Isn't it satisfying when a long sequence of timed events comes together the way you want.)

I agree with others in that there are scenes that drag on and a few seconds trimmed here and there may help trim off some of this lethargy. (Though this is a tough thing to get just right.)

I understand when the camera pans away from the speaker until they are not heard at all but during the speech to the factory workers there were 3 - 4 lines that had no audio when I played. I thought initially that the protagonist's microphone cut out and it was a part of the story but I don't think that is the case.

The ending gloat-dance was good but seemed like a unfinished ending to the movie. In the context of a serialized or segmented movie I could accept something just after this segment as the ending of the film. It just seems that the story that you are telling isn't finished and you end the level before you get to a clean stopping point. (As a chapter of a story it could work but as a standalone story it is missing some elements I think.)

Lastly when the level ender was activated the camera view shifted down to a checkpoint held up in the air by what looks to be dark matter and my sack boy pops out as the level is closing out. It may be a better ending if you faded to black and then hit the level ender or if you covered up the checkpoint area with a black facade or some other type business.

A movie is one of the things I wanted to try out in LBP2 so I've been tinkering around with one and trying to get actions, timing, cameras, sackbots and SFX to all come together is a very tricky business. I've got respect for what you've managed to put together here in this movie. Cheers.

This was a really good movie and I'm glad you sent it my way.

I thought it was a bit slow at times though, but this and other things have already been brought up so what else...
The characterisation was surprisingly well done for a LBP film, not too in your face yet obvious enough for you to pick things up.
I found myself sympathising with the scientist. No idea why though

Again, I really enjoyed it, you seem to have this steam-punk thing down to a pinch.

@Trindall, I'll check out that missing audio, see what happened there, and saying that at first, you thought it was his microphone cutting out, has givien me an excellent idea for the future, so i thank you again

Man......Good stuff! Idk how I missed this wonderful steampunk movie. The design was flawless imo. The voice acting was pretty good and clear and the story gets funnier by every level you put out. My only suggestion is to bring the cam closer when the clunk of metal comes out to make the robot. It comes out as a (!) but when its turned into a sackbot it ok. Other than that it was a joy to watch. Hearted2011-04-10 22:15:00

Wow. Really impressive. Very creative and entertaining. Great job on the details as well as character animations. The costumes were great and the voice-acting was solid. Really enjoyable. Are you going to make a film/level based on the army next? Thanks for your level and I hope you like Emeria (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=56855-Emeria) as much as I liked the Machiniac2011-05-26 22:01:00

I don't know if I've already done a review on this...but what the heck.
It was amazing. The scenery was detailed and beautiful. The script was lively and funny, and the characters were, too. The story was creative. I wish it was a bit longer, but I see there's a part 2, so I'm excited for that! The end left me hanging, but in a good way.
