one big vehicle ride level?
Archive: 18 posts
i always woundered, since lbp is in 2.5 d, could you make a loop like in real life, and keep that car in the center of the track, becuase to make a succesfull loop ( without doing it line rider style ) you need to go into depth, like you cant staay 2d, or else the ramp will hit itself. if you can do loops and cool stuff, then you could make a whole level around one long ride that has jumps some times, and sometimes you need to part with your vehicle or else you hit a fire wall, or something dangourus. so lets say you go off a jump, and if you stay grabbing the vehicle, you will certenly hit a spiked wall, so you steer your charceter up, over the wall, and then come back down and grab your vehicle again! it sounds do-able right? | 2008-08-11 02:06:00 Author: big93 Posts: 262 |
I'm pretty sure you cant blend something from one layer into another, such as like what you'd need in a loop. | 2008-08-11 02:16:00 Author: DrunkMiffy Posts: 2758 |
I'm pretty sure you cant blend something from one layer into another, such as like what you'd need in a loop. No, but what you could do is make the loop change as you drive through it. Like, have the bottom-left and bottom-right portions on pulleys so that when you hit, say, the mid-point on the loop, the bottom-left drops down and the bottom-right lifts up so you can drive through. Do you get what I mean? | 2008-08-11 03:51:00 Author: ConfusedCartman Posts: 3729 |
I think so yeah. Putting it simply, the track changes due to motion sensors as you go along? | 2008-08-11 03:53:00 Author: DrunkMiffy Posts: 2758 |
Wow Cartman, good thinking! That is the thing I love about LBP, you can pretty much make anything as long as you are creative enough!! :hero: | 2008-08-11 03:53:00 Author: Unknown User |
I think so yeah. Putting it simply, the track changes due to motion sensors as you go along? Pretty much. It would take some tweaking to get it to run smoothly all the time, but it would work. And, Marino: Thanks, and you are right. A little creative thinking allows you to accomplish pretty much anything with LittleBigPlanet. | 2008-08-11 03:58:00 Author: ConfusedCartman Posts: 3729 |
Okay, Analyze this for a moment. You could loop it this way... The car has four wheels, 2 ontop, 2 below. The ones below drive it to the right, the ones above to the left. When the car/vehicle hits the weird ramp...thing.. it flips over, thus allowing it to move in the opposie direction. Pic here for reference. http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f344/aer0blue/loopcar.jpg | 2008-08-11 04:45:00 Author: aer0blue Posts: 1603 |

Your car can only go in one direction and it is up to you to take it in the other direction to activate a gate. Interesting. | 2008-08-11 04:57:00 Author: ConfusedCartman Posts: 3729 |

I'm not sure if you could get the speed to do a succesful 360:/ It was mentioned in a hater article that to make a ramp it has to be wider then the vehicle... so your gonna need a small vehicle, or a big loop. Small vehicle sounds safer as it would be lighter too, and you could get more thrust I hope you can rocker-propel your car or else I think your going to need a steep curve leading up to your look (Think rollercoaster) | 2008-08-11 07:47:00 Author: Maltay Posts: 2073 |
rarwr, no, this is goin all off subject lololol so what i'm woundering is if vehicles must stick to a purely 2d direct, or can they come slightly into 3d, to do a loop without switches or complicated stuff? p.s this would be a good question to ask the guy were gonna interview..... and i think thrust for a smaller type loop wouldent need to be too much, a small loop i would think requires not too much speed, so i think if the vehicle goes fast enough, then a small'ish loop should be fine | 2008-08-11 08:02:00 Author: big93 Posts: 262 |

I thought you could make a loop that spans 2 layers but cartman says you cant.. and even if you can, I'm not sure your car/vehicle can. | 2008-08-11 08:12:00 Author: Maltay Posts: 2073 |
You can rocket propel your car as in the article i posted last night from the dude talking about the rocket propelled car that went accross the level at break neck speed. Also if you wanted to make a loop and did put a proximity switch at the top you could just have the bottom right side dissolve and the bottom left piece reverse dissolve (if this is gonna be possible lol) In other words the bottom left piece wouldn't be there at first as you drive into the loop but as your going around and hit the switch at the top the bottom left would appear allowing you to get back to the ground level and the bottom right section would dissolve to allow you to carry on | 2008-08-11 09:05:00 Author: dorien Posts: 2767 |

And I was thinking about the dissolve thing too. | 2008-08-11 09:10:00 Author: Maltay Posts: 2073 |
Whoa,Whoa,Whoa we have dissolving in LBP too?? | 2008-08-11 19:22:00 Author: LittleBigMan Posts: 326 |
Whoa,Whoa,Whoa we have dissolving in LBP too?? Yep! I've been looking for video proof for 4 minutes, but its hard to find. Just trust us.. we've seen it | 2008-08-11 19:38:00 Author: Maltay Posts: 2073 |
Yep! I've been looking for video proof for 4 minutes, but its hard to find. Just trust us.. we've seen it It's at the very start of the video I got along with my hands-on. Part of the bridge dissolves. | 2008-08-11 19:53:00 Author: ConfusedCartman Posts: 3729 |
It's at the very start of the video I got along with my hands-on. Part of the bridge dissolves. ah yes! Brilliant 7UWpoxHRKe4 I was looking for one where he jumps on an anemys brain and it dissolves | 2008-08-11 19:55:00 Author: Maltay Posts: 2073 |
Yep! I've been looking for video proof for 4 minutes, but its hard to find. Just trust us.. we've seen it Just to back Malty up 3:30 in you see sackboy jump on a switch to disolve the blocks and they confirmed this as a feature (and remember 'they DON'T cheat' lol) vV9Ca9DmeHg | 2008-08-11 20:13:00 Author: dorien Posts: 2767 |
