Jumper

Archive: 22 posts

Hello all,

Out now - please go play!

This level was about 2 months in the making (wasn't in the beta - so I had a big learning curve). I had one aim while making this level - make it fun to play. It can have some challenging part - but even then, I hope you're having fun beating it. I previously released a beta version to get feedback and find bugs - which resulted in some fine tuning. So, here we are -

The goal of the level is simple: Jump on all RED bounce pads to disable the barrier to the next room. First one starts out with one static bounce pad to land on.

As you progress, things get harder - like landing on four moving bounce pads.

Some rooms are puzzle oriented, and some are purely action, like the Piston Room.

http://inlinethumb08.webshots.com/27399/2971867780104171976S425x425Q85.jpg (http://entertainment.webshots.com/photo/2971867780104171976gGaNcj)

Other areas include throwing JumperBots at the RED pads, while avoiding the evil, floating SackSentries.

Forgot to pack some bright clothes - no problem, equip your Light Suit to see in dark places. . .

http://inlinethumb46.webshots.com/17133/2004500120104171976S425x425Q85.jpg (http://entertainment.webshots.com/photo/2004500120104171976iJuhwb)

Multiplayer friendly, although best with 1-2 players.

http://inlinethumb11.webshots.com/4234/2715341960104171976S425x425Q85.jpg (http://entertainment.webshots.com/photo/2715341960104171976CecblN)

Make it far enough into the level and you'll get to let your little feet a rest and get into the "Jumper", to fullfill all your bouncing needs.

http://inlinethumb14.webshots.com/45773/2290880160104171976S425x425Q85.jpg (http://entertainment.webshots.com/photo/2290880160104171976LYRtvC)

I worked hard to make the level play easily, but it was actually quite logic intensive behind the scenes. This is part of the logic from the last Jump Room.

http://inlinethumb15.webshots.com/44942/2584393600104171976S425x425Q85.jpg (http://entertainment.webshots.com/photo/2584393600104171976bzzApv)

Other areas. . .

So, give it a try. Can't promise you'll like it - but I think you'll have fun.

Hope you guys check it out.

(NOTE: This is not listed as F4F, but if you leave your LBP.me link, I'll still try to return the favor and try your level in return.)

Aaah did you come back from the future?! This publish date says March 4th, it's only March 3rd! Bum-bum-bummmmmmmmm

Haha just joking, probably just the time zone deal, looks fun, and I like that high tech look.

Hey Cymbol, I really enjoyed the level. Awesome visually and a blast to play. I love how it starts out simple, then progressively gets more complicated, incorporating grabinators and the controllinator.

As far as feedback goes, its super super super minor, but when you first get the bouncy ball and you have to hit L1/L2 in the one room, you have red and blue lights that make it just slightly hard to see what the color is on the moving platforms. Again, not even a big deal, but if you wanted something to change, maybe you can change the color of those lights.

Awesome job! Very creative and universally fun because, hey, who doesn't love the bounce pads in this game?

If you've got some time on your hands, check out the level series I just published... https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=51825-The-Alien-Epic - there's the thread for it, I love all the feedback I can get =)

First of all I loved thay little robot you made, the Jumper, Looked really cool and creative along with the Creatinator (Looked amazing) and the Jumper Vehicle is one of the best vehicles ive seen so far.

I loved the design, the style of the level, the Concept of the level was really cool, loved how you started simple and made it trickier getting those red bounce pads.
It sure was addicting

Sure was fun, the lighting of the level, gotta give you thumbs up on that, it made the level come to life, great use of neon and Hologram material, I never expected to See Water or Bubbles in a Mechanical style level, but You sure pulled it off very well .

It definatly was a unique level, Perfect Use of Bounce Pads, Gravity and Bouncing Materials, Using the Jumper bots was a bit hard and took a while, I had the most hardest time there, it sure was challenging but thats not a bad thing .

If there is something I have to point out, the End, where you had to Avoid the balls, The Arrows kinda made me wonder, I got to curious with them which led me to Touch a ball and end the game, but I sure feel like going back there and trying again.

Also The camera was good but at one Point it was hard to see, It was in a Bridge before going to the "Trowing the Jumper Bots" section, The Red upside down section was amazing, difficult a bit short but well made.

Again Greaatt use of Lighting in the level,

Great Job

Once again, CYMBOL, you done an amazing job.

VISUALS:
The lighting is colorful, and the sackbots are really cool too. The spinning checkpoints that have a bunch of wings looked really cool too. The layer glitch of the bouncing pads at the end of the level looked awesome.

SOUND:
I liked how the music varies as you progress through the level.

GAMEPLAY:
This level has so much bouncing pads with a lot of clever ideas, that it'll have you keep on jumping. Great use of the grabinator that lets you throw the sackbots at the red pads, and awesome controlinator survival challenge. I think what needs to change in the level is that in the grabinator part, the platforms the sackbots are on are slippery (don't know if you did that on purpose to make it challenging, but that's my only suggestion).

OVERALL:
What an awesome level. A yeah vote, a heart, and a positive review.

As for the sackbot platforms - yes, those are slippery on purpose. You're supposed to grab on to the white area to tip it - then they slide right off for you to use. It's explained in the instructions - but the dialouge may have gone by too quickly.

Thanks to everyone for trying my level out.

It's always great to hear from other esteemed creators here on LBPC.

And even though the level is doing really well with positive reviews- there is always room for improvement, so I appreciate the thoughtful critiques.

I greatly appeciate all your comments.

Great level!

I really liked the idea and the use of all the bounce pads

The part with the grabbinator was awsome and the bouncing ball (controllinator part) was just funny.
Nearly managed to survive with the bouncing ball, but a few seconds before the time ran out something hit me.
I nearly destroyed my pad as a result

It was challenging and enjoyable. Hope to see more levels like this one
If you got some time, try one of my levels please and give feedback

I played this one too. I liked it very much. I had some problems with the second level but I can't remember exactly what is was again. I'll que it up again to play it some more.
Love the look and that cute little sackbot you made there: I was almost sad I could not play as him!
The last bit with the jumper was fun. Maybe you could add a visual cue on there to show the player if he is able to hit blue or red?

Would like to try my level too? It's in my sig below.

Haha, well, just so you know - the thermo didn't let me do anything special for those that beat the timer. I was going to put a prize bubble on the scoreboard for anyone who beat it - but I actually had to delete other prize bubbles, cause the level was acting up, even though the thermo is only one bar over on the second part. So, all you get is a higher score - and applause and cheering. You didn't miss much - but I know it sucks to be so close. It gets hectic towards the end. That's why I added that heartbeat for the last 30 seconds.

Glad you enjoyed it - I have Tombs queued up.

Thank you for the feedback - maybe if I make part 2 I'll make him playable with some suped up jumping abilities or something. Haha.

I have your level in my queue.

Hello all,

Here's the last plug for my level. It's been getting great reviews (even though it looks like someone tried to spam many of the comments with sad faces - if they had left a comment with what they didn't like, I might have considered their words - but spamming the level with silly sad faces - seems like a hater to me).

Anyway - you can read some of the reviews here. http://lbp.me/v/ygrw7d/reviews I don't delete the bad ones (only had to delete one because he was very rude).

So, just giving one last invite to other gadders - hoping you'll enjoy my level.

Take care everyone.

Hello all,

I was fortunate to have someone record the first half of Jumper. Check it out if you want. (Only wanted to first half recorded - wanted the leave the second half a bit of a mystery).

Yeah it does, I only got half way through it.

During the L1/L2 section, why not have a light on the bouncer, that switches between red and blue?
I would always forget the last button I pressed, and then miss the pad because I was in the wrong state.

I also found it a little annoying when suddenly my sackboy couldn't activate the red pads any more.
You go through the whole level activating them, teaching this element to the player, then pull an 180 and do the opposite.
Why not use a different colour or something?

Ah, glad i saw this thread, I played this a few weeks back quite a few times, thought it was great! A really fun bouncy good times level. Loved the constant flow of new twists on the bouncepad gameplay. Tried to take a few friends in a couple of times but the linking system wasn't having it. It's one of those levels I'll probably keep going back too....2011-04-02 00:08:00
