Can I attach/"sprout" objects on a Sackbot?
Archive: 7 posts
I'm working on a level boss where the idea is that it's a large Sackbot that sprouts wings and flies around shooting at you. The idea would be to originally show it without the wings, then have them appear to grow or pop out of his back and "flap" up and down as he floats using anti-gravity. I'm trying to figure out how to do it without the wings originally being shown. It doesn't seem that I can place emitters on the sackbot. So basically, I just want to know if it's possible to make attachable decorations like wings suddenly appear on a sackbot, as well as possibly flap up and down repeatedly (Not sure if motors work with decorations). | 2011-03-03 23:52:00 Author: Behonkiss Posts: 229 |
You might not be able to do that, but why not destroy/emit so the new sackbot with wings is emitted when you want it to be? Oh, and you can't attach motors to decos, but you can put decos on motors. | 2011-03-03 23:56:00 Author: dragonember Posts: 607 |
You could just emit a hollow that has the wings on it follow the bot. Then just use movers on the bot to make him "float". | 2011-03-04 00:01:00 Author: Devious_Oatmeal Posts: 1799 |
Your wings can be attached to a piece of holographic material that floats on a layer behind the sackbot and follows the sackbot. I'm not sure if you can attach wobble bolts to two pieces of holo to create the flapping but you could use some rotators or gyroscopes to do it. Whatever device you come up with can be emitted from the sackbot on queue. And yes, you can place emitters on a sackbot, not on their body but within the sackbots circuit board. | 2011-03-04 00:02:00 Author: Osprey71 Posts: 93 |
Didn't I just say that? | 2011-03-04 00:08:00 Author: Devious_Oatmeal Posts: 1799 |
You can place emmiters on the Sackbot's Microchip btw, it will use the center of the sackbot as the "emitting point." You could emit a thick block of Holo material, brightness 0, make it about as wide as the sackbot's torso. Make 2 small thin squares of holo, again, brightness 0% so its not bisible in play mode, then attatch the wings to those blocks, put the blocks with the wings behind the thick holo block, so it looks as if it had the wings, then place mottor bolts to unite the block and the thin squares, and to give movement to the wings. The, place a microchip on the holo block, and set it to follow a tag, max speed, and put the tag he's meant to follow on the sackbot's chip, then capture it, and set it to emit (I reccomend by by "expanding") right where the sackbot is, and done! Hope that helps! | 2011-03-04 00:09:00 Author: Silverleon Posts: 6707 |
I always forget how useful holo blocks can be for this kind of thing. Thanks to everyone who commented. | 2011-03-04 00:45:00 Author: Behonkiss Posts: 229 |
