really like the idea, you totally got me with the thriller thing couldnt stop laughing!
And your absolutely right with all the zombie survival and basketball games, there's way too much of them -.-

But i couldnt finish the level, as i entered the pod and clicked on the unnamed level everything went black and i couldnt do nothing except opening my popit menu.
So I blew myself up and went to the pod again, it still went black...

please have a look at it again, i really enjoyed playing it up to the point where it went black, i wanna know what comes next
and if you would like to, please give feedback on one of my levels. (signature)

so far,
Dragon

I'll have a look now, it's always interesting to see what people think isn't fun I'll add some comments in a minute.

Edit: The Long tag is certainly right! I couldn't finish it at the end when I was stuck in a sort of grid thing in the really crappy level with loads of random sackbots running around, not sure what i was supposed to do there.

I would raise the question though, do we need more 'complaining' levels?

Think there might be a mess up in part 2-3 people are saying they are stuck, I'm stuck at work for a 14 hour shift before I can fix anything:s no matter how much you test it something always squeaks by2011-03-04 15:05:00

Tested it and loved! Didn't make it to the end because I got stuck to the bomb survival too... that's definately a problem. But yeah, everything else was very neatly planned 2011-03-04 15:55:00

I enjoyed the level quite a bit and agreed with most points. I did use all three layers in my first level, but have since moved on to more interesting layouts.

I got stuck in the part of the level that displayed an example of a poorly created level. The vehicles all exploded so the inner part was intact but the outer wheels were gone. Thus, I was unable to continue. I am off to work, but queued the level again and will try again this evening.

ok hun, you did a very very good job on the jokes and effects and stuff, but it is boring to play. don't make the people play what they don't want to play. or what you don't want them to create. try to do the level in a way that it makes fun to play and is not streching. there ARE ways to do a fun level and in the same time showing what not to do.

i hope you know what i mean. and if you say you need to test your own levels... i think you don't did it often enogh cause i guess every 2nd person get's stuck on the bomb survival and need to quit or start again. i don'T think that this is what fun is.

i ****ing love your ideas, i love the idea fo the level and i love how you did the most things, but the boring parts are the main problem. you made what you tell others not to do.

sorry for the harsh words. i don't mean em on a bad way. keep up the good work! but this level needs lil bit more work in my eyes hun *Hugs*

i btw postet a level from mine in your review thread
hope you'll find time - thank you!

I have to agree to some extent with werwolf. Obviously, a lot of time and effort went into making the cut scenes and scenery, and the first half of the level is really cool. But then I'm stuck playing basketball for like 2 minutes... and then later w/ the bomb survival and unnamed level... they just go on way too long. Production value is flawless (thriller was friggin hilarious), but shorten the basketball section and don't make me spend 5 minutes plowing through a screen-filling swiss cheese block with some random gun lol.

And I too got stuck where the bombs drop and the sackbots run around.

Hope this was constructive for ya, not trying to be mean, just offering some advice ^_^

Thank you both for your honest reviews! Some how ehen I fixed another issue in the h4h part something else broke and people are getting stuck, it's really bugging me can wait to go home and fix it:s also I will shorten the basket ball part to 2 baskets required and for the bomb survival il spawn a bomb creatinator and I'll put a button linked to an emitter in case the cars break, anything else you notice? I take a log of pride in my work and way people to love it and if there's anything I can improve I'm aleays open to hear it! Thanks again!2011-03-04 19:18:00

I agree with the things said above but won't harp on it cuz you've already said you'll fix it. With the bomb survival, I'd consider just ramping up the bombs till the player has no choice but to die and move the checkpoint over so they spawn and move on. Seems to fit the theme of the survival games anyway.

Also, maybe I just suck, but in the beginning where you tell people to use all the layers, I totally agree. I love it when people use the thin layer to conceal the player when he's walking down an otherwise boring corridor. However, there's a spot where you use the thin layer to cover a spot where the player has to make jumps, and I'd consider that to be a DON'T. Again, this may just be me, but for some reason I had a heck of a time seeing where I needed to go to get to that upper tier where the grappling hook is.

Anyway, good job otherwise. I'll concur with the opinion that the Thriller part stole the show. It's not easy to tell people what to do creatively without coming off like a jerk. The humor there helps. Well done.

Not to be rude. But that's like telling a health inspector to learn how to cook fabulous dishes before giving a grade.

queued up.

I loved the original level, and the sequel doesn't disappoint either. Great job, MalteseAssassin!

The thriller part was ingenious, but I laughed the hardest when I finally managed to hoist myself up on the flowery ledge at the part where the rocky course is dropped down from above, only to be squashed by a giant fist. I was like "What the heck was that?!" for a few moments, then just burst out laughing. Are there more hidden hand-of-god situations like this in the level?

Anyway, I agree with most if not all of the do-s and don't-s described in the level. My only complaint is that considering the length of the level, they were too few and too far between. While this method of presentation is better for making a point, I think players coming to learn would benefit more from an increase number of examples (especially in the DO department).

One extra thing: I almost managed to break the last sub-level (or rather, it almost managed to break itself), because the debris from the building that was being bombed covered 2 of the 3 buttons used to spawn the controlinated hamster wheels, and the rightmost button was constantly being pressed by the very hamster wheel it emitted, because a checkpoint was positioned just under the emitter that spawned it, redirecting the wheel on top of the button. Thankfully, after a minute or two, the checkpoint slowly rolled to the side, allowing me to actually get in one of the hamster wheels. But I found it quite funny, a testament to how these randomly thrown-together levels are, since many of them actually break in similar ways.

Well done, and I hope there'll be a third installation, delving deeper into bad practices and ways to improve or substitute them.

Oh, if you have the time, I'd appreciate it if you could give the level in my signature a try, possibly even some feedback. Hopefully you won't find any don't-s there.

I haven't had any time to play it yet, but tell me you've covered points fests! I hate to just see a massive amount of score bubbles and no game play.2011-03-12 20:46:00

This level is genius, and fun. And quite funny too. Perhaps the best of the 'do's and don'ts' levels, although I have to part ways with the shark/basketball don'ts. I'm a believer that they can be good if the creator puts in enough twists and bonuses.

I liked every minute of it, even the 'crappy' level.. which ironically got a lot more attention and detail than real crap levels.

I've played it! Great level, you've put lots of effort into it. I really do hate creators who publish these extremely bad levels, e.g shark survivals that have no effort whatsoever put into them. Good way to spread the messag, hopefully this one will be Mm picked too 2011-03-14 18:08:00
