Help with water

Hey was just wondering if its possible to make only one room in my level to have water, and if so can you make it lethal like with electricity that can be shut on and off? Anyone having suggestions on whether or not you can do this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. | 2011-03-03 14:18:00 Author: Unknown User |
I don't think you can electrify real water. There is however water material out there. I haven't found it yet, though. Or, you can use real water and stick a big piece of holographic material in it, set to 0% brightness so it becomes invisible in play mode. You can electrify that and it will even show the sparks at 0% visibility. Stick a Lethalizer to it to control its deadliness. Edit: the water material does not have the same properties as real water; you cannot swim and drown in it. However, if you decide to use water material and want your sack to swim in it, here is a nice tutorial for achieving that (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVTj0mOvHS4). | 2011-03-03 14:37:00 Author: Antikris Posts: 1340 |
If you make the room lower than all the others you can just set the water to the right level so it's only in that room. You could also use a player sensor that quickly floods the room when the player enters and drains it when they leave. As for lethalising it, use an invisible hologram with a danger tweaker, and turn the tweaker on or off to make it lethal or non-lethal. Edit: ninja'd | 2011-03-03 14:40:00 Author: Dr C Posts: 122 |
The electrified holo sounds like a good solution. As for the room under water you can raise the global water level and build that room under the waterline. | 2011-03-03 14:43:00 Author: Chicago51 Posts: 258 |
If you decide to go with real water and the electrified holo, but want sackboy to lower the water level to get past it instead of turning the electricity off, you should have the holo shape effectively float in the water. This is not something the holo does by itself (no physical properties), but here is a trick: Make the shape pretty large, vertically, to compensate for high rising water. Stick a microchip at its very top that contains: a gyroscope to keep it straight; a water sensor; a NOT gate; a 2-gate selector; two simple movers. Hook the water sensor to input #1 of the selector and also to the NOT gate. Wire the output of the NOT gate to input #2 of the selector. Now wire each output of the selector to its own mover. Tweak mover #1 to move upwards and #2 to move downwards. Place the entire holo block in the water. Now, when it detects water, it will 'float up'. Until it hits the surface and it will plunge back in. | 2011-03-03 14:54:00 Author: Antikris Posts: 1340 |
