I have owned LBP1 since the day it came out. I bought the LBP2 Collector's Edition the day it came out, too. I do not, however, own the LBP Game of the Year greatest hits, because that would mean I have to re-buy LBP1. I mention this for a reason. The day before LBP2 came out, I bought the Prehistoric Moves game at the PS Store for 6 or 8 bucks (I only bought it cuz we got a couple Move controllers for Xmas). The next day, I bought LBP2 CE for 80 bucks, and it came with Prehistoric Moves as a kinda Move demo 2nd wierd disc typa thingy. Ok, I should've bought it right away when we got the new controllers. But now, I've bought LBP2 CE for 79.99. The most expensive video game I've ever bought to date (since Atari 2600 btw), plus an extra 6 or 8 bucks for Prehistoric Moves the day before, PLUS TAX! Now, if I want to use any of the Metal Gear Solid items in create mode, they want 6 bucks. If I want the costumes that come with the MGS pack, its more still. All this comes with the Game of the Year Edition Greatest Hits version, that you can now buy for 30 bucks I think. And it comes with so many extras on top of that, like the Pirates of the Caribbean pack, with water. But if I want that, it's 6 bucks. I already bought it a long time ago, and well worth the fun it came with, but... Now I gotta buy LBP1 GOTY Edition (read: re-buying LBP1) to get all the upgrades it comes with (like MGS, POTC, etc) for about 30 bucks? Any first time buyer of LBP1 now gets all these extras? I've owned both LBP1 and LBP2 since day 1 of both and paid the premium price for it, and I still don't own all these extras I could buy for about 6 bucks each, making this the all-time most money I have ever spent on a video game... and I might end up re-buying LBP1! Cuz it would be cheaper than buying all the upgrades it comes with! Uggghhh! PS. Every penny spent has been well worth it. This is the greatest video game franchise ever built, and almost everything I've ever wanted in a video game. *Except I can't say Skyscraper?!? Hehehe, sackpeople make me laugh. Sometimes sackpeople make me look angry, sad and scared too. I wish I had all the cool stuff that people can just buy all willy-nilly that comes free with their cheaper version of the game that I spent 60 bucks for... and theirs comes with shtuff I gotta pay more for??? Grrrrrrrr Just sayin'

Well, basically. If you buy GOTYE it's like you get LBP1 for free. I personally don't buy costumes. The main reason I bought the collector's edition was for the book stands. They're actually functional unlike most things that come with CEs. Plus I got the Jak and Clank costumes. Not to mention the Clu costume. So far, the CE is the only time I have ever sort of spent money for costumes.

Yes, but not just for the costumes. Not at all, really. Doesn't the GOTY LBP1 also come with the Level Packs with all the create items like water, paintinator, all the music, stickers, decorations, etc. that they come with...? btw, I have 3 kids. 8yrs, 10yrs, and 11 yrs. I like the create stuff, they like the costumes

Oh Yeah, they come with all that kewl stuff too. It really doesn't make a big difference. The only way it would, would be if you've never played LBP before, and you happen to have $30+tax on you. The game basically comes free. So what you are essentially doing is paying the same price, that you would pay if you bought the extra stuff in the GOTYE. Although, if you are a collector of games and want to own the GOTYE, that would be a bonus as well. I have a friend with nephews that go crazy for costumes on LBP. I know what you mean by the kids loving them. lol.

Yeah, GOTY only comes with MGS level pack, MGS costume pack, History and Monster packs (one level each, mainly scenery with bonus items), monster costume pack, history costume pack, community levels (a collection of Mm picks on the disk). It doesn't come with POTC pack. The monster and history packs (and costumes) are pretty, but useless. It only gives you some stickers and costumes, but it isn't worth it. (Brown zombie costume, vampire (boy or girl) costumes, werewolf costume) The monster costumes are nicer, but yet if it isn't costumes you're looking for, GOTY is 30$ and POTC + MGS = 12$ or so. I did also buy the sack's moves, and found out it was a multiplayer only game (but I managed to beat it alone) and that it came with LBP2. Lucky me, it was more than a month before LBP2, so it was worth it. Don't just buy a second copy of the game! By the way, isn't water included in LBP2 even if you don't have the POTC pack ? And the only nice thing with MGS pack is the paintinator, but the creatinator makes the job, you can even create paint bullets yourself with jelly sponge, stickers, an impact sensor and a destroyer set to splash.

Well, then that means the GOTYE is only good if you want it for a collection. Yea, but since I dont yet own the MGS pack, which may be the only useful one. Im not worried about the paintinator, cuz the creatinator is the upgraded version you get to wear on your head. The only reason I really noticed a big problem is, sometimes creators give away cool objects theyve made in their levels. Inevitably, it seems the cool ones I want almost always use something from the MGS pack - so I cant use it or look at it or do anything with it. I just thought of something... Would it be possible to just rent it once, put it in, load it and play it... and then anytime I put in LBP2, I would now have this stuff? Not that I would ever do this, of course. Just wondering. hehe Even it doesn't come with the POTC pack, aren't there other levels to play when you get MGS, History, Monsters etc that also contain more bonus bubbles like in the POTC pack? (POTC is the only pack I ever bought, so I don't know if they all do that...) I dont know, in the end, I'll probably end up just buying it, and giving one of my copies to take with the kids when they are at the ex's house. She's a meanie, so I created a different house for myself with my sweet creatinator.

MGS pack has some playable levels, they're pretty okay. Shows off the pack nicely. Every other pack is usually gallery level rather than a bunch of 'real' levels. The goty also comes with some 'best of' levels from the community, but I dunno about how good those are. I know the DLC seems expensive at first, but then you gotta remember people pay 12-20usd a month to play MMOs...

I know. I dont pay for MMOs. What other people decide to spend their money on is of little importance to me.I dont pay for cable TV or satellite. I dont even pay for internet. (Im lucky I get to tap into my landlord's wireless for free). Im just *****in'. I love the game. LBP1 and 2 are the best games ever invented. I have spent more money on video games in my lifetime than anyone I know. (Im 38 yrs old, been buying games since the beginning of being able to have a video game on your TV). I have paid the premium prices for LBP1 (59.99) and now LBP2 at 79.99 plus tax... came out to almost 90 bucks! And that's fine. I saw a game that I could play, and the kids could play, almost forever. And the more people learned about how to create... I know from playing LBP1 that LBP2 is gonna be amazing when the community really wraps theair heads around what can be possible with this game. Im a frugal person, because I have to be. I dont buy games very often. Id rather have food on the table. LBP has put hours upon hours of fun into our household. Thank you Media Molecule for creating the game I always hoped would exist. Im just saying, I dont buy all the extras cuz I cant afford em. Then when I find out you can get the extras for less than I paid originally... it just irks me. Thats all. I want it all. I dont buy every latest game. I cant afford to. Since I heard LBP2 was coming out, I started saving my money for it. I didnt buy Call of Duty, or the newest Grand Theft Auto stories... even though Ive heard maybe I should've, because I wanted to get my money's worth out of a game. And I have gotten my money's worth. But I dont have it all. I just wish I did cuz I think Ive paid the price of being a LBP fan. Half the reason I bought a PS3 was because we wouldnt have to pay a monthly or yearly charge for internet gaming, and I do appreciate that. I'm not trying to be a *****. I just think that if you're going to sell something for half the price of the original item, and the half price item comes with content that I still can't get without paying even more... well, you made your money off of me, quite frankly, so I should get the goods as well. That's all. I love the game. I love Media Molecule for what they have created. I know we all gotta make our money. Im just a poor man trying to make the most out of everything. Some of us dont have our parents to buy the extra DLC anymore. Now... I'm gonna go work on creating a game.
