Need Help Brainstorming Ideas

Archive: 2 posts

I'm currently working on a level called Eviscration, in which the entire premise is based around gravity.

I'd explain what the whole level involves atm, but I'm to lazy, so I'll just link you to the level showcase topic, XP

Anywho, I'm kind of hitting a block and need some help brainstorming more gravity based objectives.

At the moment, I'm contemplating a super gravity room, a room that when you walk into it everything gets really really heavy. I'll do this using jetpack at entrance attached to a massive chunk of rock via chain, but you wont see the rock. But the rock will be glued to a wall via dissolving material, but when you get to top it dissolves the rock falls, pulling you down hard, making it seem like you got really really heavy really fast.

Also I'm going to have a rotating path, basicly a path going straight down, you start at top and have to make to bottom, where there's a grab switch, and when you grab it the secton of path flips 180 degrees and you are now pointing down. Then let go and avoid the various deathtraps as you free fall and make it to bottom.

There will probably be an antigrav room, in which there's a bunch of hovering chunks of styrofoam/sponge which you grab onto and float around on, making your way across while avoiding death traps, like other floating platforms electrified and floating waves of horrible gas.

Anyone have any other ideas? Remember, trying to make it all gravity based, where either gravity is working against you, or you use it as a tool.

Using a large circle of grabbable material and a motor bolt, you can use the spin of the motor bolt to fling yourself in various ways that's all tied to gravity and momentum. It's used a lot in the second level of the islands I believe.

You can also use quick moving pistions to hurl yourself or objects at fast (or slow) speeds and then let gravity do it's thing. Different weighted material and different pistion lengths and speeds will produce different results. Changing the angle will vary how things will fly, fall and land as well.

It could be possible to take that second idea, add a jetpack and grabbable stuff attached to various weights, have a machine that can change angle and possibly piston speed, put in some magnetic keys...

Hopefully this is starting to give you some stuff to think about. I can't give away all my good ideas but hopefully you can put some things together with that.
