While this year's Razzies were pretty obvious, I personally argue that some of the action sequences were at least cool in Last Airbender. But yeah, the dialogue was horrific.

So what are your thoughts? Are all these awards justified?

Yeah, I totally agree with that statement.
Imagine how cool that movie would have been if they got everything else right..
Oh well.

Don't all recent movies come under "Prequel, Remake, Rip-Off, or Sequel"

I actually like Bounty Hunter... :S

Also think Megan Fox was just robbed, robbed I say! She is one of the worst actresses currently in (or was in) Hollywood, thought she was much worse than any other woman last year.

Thank god she's not in Transformers 3, lol. Jonah Hex probably wouldn't have turned out quite as bad if she wasn't in it.

Inception! =)

Actually that sets me on to thinking about making a topic for the Oscars.

Unfortunately Inception, while not a bad movie, is a rip-off of...a Scrooge McDuck story! I am seriously not making this up:

And honestly while I think as little of Megan Fox's acting "talent" as anyone, I'd have a seriously difficult decision making the choice for worst actress among all the nominees.

Also, man did they ever drop the ball on "The Last Airbender"; I remember everyone being in an uproar about nearly all the main (very ethnic) characters being played by the whitest child actors they could find but that was only the tip of the iceburg of frozen sewage. With any luck a sequel will never see the light of day.

Lol Cracked needs better editors. Most of their articles are fun reads, but so many of them have holes the size of the Pacific Ocean that none of the articles should be read with blind faith.

A few things to consider:
1. You have to define what exactly a rip-off is. In this day and age, it's nearly impossible to come up with a completely original idea that someone somewhere hasn't already thought of. Also, inspiration can come from many places, doesn't mean that the end product isn't considered original. If I write a story about a wizard who's friends with a medieval King, you can't just simply accuse me of ripping off the story of Merlin.

2. It's fairly well known that the feeling of falling will "kick" you out of a dream.

3. Of course they both have a love interest. In the movie it's pretty much a must.

I didn't actually read the article in its entirety, but I'm assuming I've made my point.

It's true that Cracked probably isn't the best place to trust for absolute context and it's also true virtually nothing is wholly original, sources for ideas and inspirations are the stuff term papers are made of. Using multiple sources allows you to expand your understanding of, and assists in reaching, what you're working towards; but there's that and there's someone else showing multiple examples from a single source that directly parallel multiple parts from a work of fiction that came at a significantly later date. Even if it is Cracked, it's not like they photoshopped the images to change their context.

If you did write a story about a wizard who knows a king, of course I can't say at face value that you're ripping off the story of Merlin; but if that wizard in your story was the progeny of a devil and a mortal woman, served under aforementioned king's father before helping the son fulfill his destiny, and then was betrayed and condemned by a woman he fell in love with then I could make that arguement. Of course, it's unfair to say Nolan straight-up plagarized Rosa, in all likelihood he just unwittingly using a concept that had already been used, though saying someone who's known for making gritty sci-fi thrillers ripped off a cartoon duck is more amusing.

And if by making your point you mean derail the thread

Fair enough. =P

One thing I forgot to say earlier: Still think Clash of the Titans should have won worst misuse of 3D.

I was too blinded by all the Olympian's shiny clothes and too bored by Sam Worthington's "acting" to notice.2011-03-02 05:25:00
