I don't know if anyone has heard anything about this, other than on Top Gear. It's a documentary comprised entirely of footage from the period, nothing new, about one of my heroes, Ayrton Senna Da Silva.

In my opinion, the greatest driver ever. I never got to see him race (that I can remember) as he was killed at Imola when I was 2. I got taken tor aces with my parents, but I can't remember it. I've watched every video, season review, whatever I can find. He was just unbelievably talented.

Even if you have no interest in Formula 1, I would urge you to check this out when it is released in June. I know I'll be there, the day it is out, with my mum who was always a Senna fan, while my dad was a Mansell fan, and we'll be watching it. My dad once told me that when my mum heard that Ayrton had died, she cried and didn't speak for days. He was of the opinion that she loved Ayrton more than she loves him. He didn't hold it against her, it was purely an observation, but it's testament to the talent and influence one man can have. In Brazil, they had 3 days directly after his death of mourning. People queued for 7 miles to pay their last respects to their hero, the man who had brought their country so much.

In short, Senna is a legend. And whether you like F1 or not, it is going to be worth checking out.

I've been following it since I heard the rumor a while ago that this may happen, it's got a lot of stuff that hasn't been seen before as it was held in the F1 archives or Senna's family had footage etc. I can't wait to see it, I just hope it gets the recognition it deserves, and hopefully introduces people to F1 at the same time as showing them just how good Ayrton was.		2011-02-28 01:08:00

I used to love watching F1 when I was a kid, it's a shame todays races are a much watered down, softer version of the sport. Maybe it's all for the best though, right? Prevents us from losing anyone as great as Senna again.		2011-03-03 22:33:00

It was the best racing in the late 80's and early 90's, no doubt. Same goes for the BTCC. It's a pity, but there's not much we can do...

Still, some drivers try to keep it exciting - Hamilton, Kobayashi, Kubica etc. are all examples of exciting drivers, Hamilton especially. He's probably the most Senna-esque driver of recent times, by far. The way he will go for any opening is just something most drivers don't do anymore, and it's what Senna did. Lewis will never be as good as Ayrton, but he's a similar kind of driver. It's just a pity there are so many drivers like Button and Alonso, they don't help the sport. theya re good, don't get me wrong, but sitting behind a car in 14th in the last race of the season, with the title on the line, is not what you do. Had lewis been in his position, he would have got past within 2 laps, or crashed trying. Ayrton would have got past instantly or crashed trying. That's just how they drive, and you don't get it enough anymore.

One Prost is fine (still hate him, especially the whole yeah, me and Ayrton became friends just before he died' - yeah, ********. You just wanna look good) but I don't want 21 Prosts' and 3 Senna's.

Scratch that, there will only ever be one Senna, no one will be as good. Gilles was close, but didn't get a chance to shine. It seems all the real greats got taken from us up to the mid-90's, or came very close. It is racing though, and Ayrton himself said if he dies, he wants it to be fast, and he wants to be racing.		2011-03-04 00:09:00

I've been looking forward to this coming out and will watch this for sure. Huge F1 fan for years and have a die cast of Senna's first win.

One phenomenal talent for sure and wish he was still with us. Mikey might not have some of those championships if that were the case.		2011-03-04 02:07:00

In my opinion, it was the best episode of Top Gear there has ever, and will ever be. Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz + that tribute! Hard to beat!

Well I finally got to see it, I went to the preview showing last night (it isn't out 'til Friday here).

It's a brilliant film, in my opinion the best film I've ever watched. It never cuts away from the old footage, a lot of which is from the archives that no one has ever seen before, and it is just so well made. The scenes at Imola imparticular are very emotional though, especially if you know how it ends (I obviously did, but there were some people there who were there because it was a preview and they were film freaks who just wanted to comment on how well it was put together, with no idea who he was beforehand...)

I can't recommend it enough, both the best, most positive and yet at the same time the saddest film I've ever (and probably will ever) watch. You don't need to be an F1 fan (or a Senna fan, there were a few Mansell fans there) to enjoy it, so go see it!		2011-06-01 11:33:00

Finally got to see it at the cinema today.

Great film. I was amazed by how much footage they had of behind the scenes, drivers conferences, home movie stuff. It was a real treat to see the drama behind the headlines.

For any racing fan, a must see, for anyone else, give it a chance and you'll find yourself captivated by one mans true story of skill, determination and controversy.		2011-06-12 22:45:00
