what...the... .....

okay I was makign a level for 5 hours at least today, it involves jumping across rooftops and I was very happy with what I had done in 5 hours and the quality of my work. Yes I played it mutliple times, and made some enemies that would not frustratingly work for at least 30 mins before I fixed it(long story) but I moved my ps3 to my room to play(yes I edited it here earlier too and saved again) and went on to play it and edit it some more AND GUESS HOW MUCH OF THE TWO ROOFTOPS WERE DONE!?!?

.8

all the enemies I had made, all the stickers, all the characters, all the text dialoges hazards everything was GONE FROM THE TIME I FINISHED THE FIRST BUILDING! in the separate level where I made all the characters and enemies there was only 1 character(the first and lousiest one I made today)

WHAT-THE **** IS THE DEAL!?!?

did I screw the pooch? is there no hope in hell of getting ANY of it back? HOW DID THIS HAPPEN IS WHAT I WANT TO KNOW.

uhggg........... thanks in advance

You probably accidentally hit "discard changes" or you turned off the game/Ps3 without saving first. I make a backup of my levels every while just in case.2008-11-23 00:18:00

I saved the level every time I tested it so that makes the discard changes irrelevant, same with turning off the ps3 no?2008-11-23 00:21:00

I was just guessing. If you're sure that you saved it I'm not sure what else it could be, sorry.

But, if you turn it off before the little save indicator is done, you won't get a good save. It may revert because of that, or outright corrupt the save for it.

So, not irrelevant....just a question of probability.

If you make a complex object, like a monster or vechicle or interesting backdrop or whatever, you can capture and save the thing as a "my object". Then you can reproduce the object, even if the whole level gets destroyed.

To take this from a different angle, certainly, the hard physical work may have been destroyed, but your learning and understanding of how the game works and how to build what you just did is still there within you. Recreating things the second time should be easier than the first.

Certainly though, it is frustrating to see several hours of hard work suddenly fall apart with little or no back up. It may be wise, as you suggested, to take a break from building that specific level and work on another project, or play other people's levels, or muck about in story mode - there is heaps to do within the game apart from level building. You can even take a break from the whole game, that's not a bad idea in and of itself as you say.

And when and if you return to the broken project, it might even be a better level than the one you had before the great crash.

I did save all of the objects and enemies but they disappeared from the saved objects area... and it wasnt just one level that got messed with I do all my editing to make enemies and objects in a separate level and saved them as objects and left them there. Out of 5 really nice ones only 1 was there. I always do things better my second time aorund but UGGGH MAAAANNN lol2008-11-23 15:46:00
