In/Out movers NOT WORKING!

Archive: 18 posts

So I have a block in the first layer. I put an in/out mover on it, and set it so that it goes to the back layer. When I unpause, it just falls to the ground, and doesn't move layers at all. 2011-02-27 08:11:00

Maybe try giving it some of that antigravitational and gyroscopic action so it doesn't have a choice but to sit still unless told to "STEP BACK, FOOL".

Or I'm talking out of my behind. I'unno. That's what I would try first anyway. That or dark matter and attach the in-y 'n out-y to the dark matter itself. Make it small, though. Or hide it. Dark matter's ugly.

try placing an anti gravity tweaker on it as well. that should keep it in the same spot on the X/Y axis.2011-02-27 08:18:00

Doesn't work. It won't budge.

Switch?
2 of them for 2 ways
Not glued?

I can get it to stay in place, but the problem is getting it to move to the back layer.2011-02-27 08:22:00

Try playing with your strength some. it could be that your strength is not high enough to move it.

Maybe you can elaborate a bit more on the situation...

And I find it hard to believe that with antigravity on the object it won't move. Maybe you're object is colliding with another in some fashion? How many layers does this object take up vice the amount of layers you're using in the immediate area?

glued?

What I want to do is emit it in the front layer and have it move to the back layer once emitted.

It's one layer thick.

Hmm... one of 3 things is wrong...

1. Your messing with us.

2. Everything isn't showing or you have it connected to something.

or

3. You're trying to make it go back while it's in the back layer.....

Have you tried to restart the game?

Did you try the strength setting? That really can stop is as the prior poster said. If you copy the object and place it will it not move? Have you tried both direction settings? Is there any thin item that may be stopping it, what is your logic that is making it auto move tot he back? You may need a timer or a counter that will activate it once emitted. An anti grav with all setting turned up should work to keep it in place..2011-02-27 08:47:00

Get the object and place a magnetic key on it and a magnetic key switch in range...2011-02-27 08:55:00

attach a Anti Gravity Tweaker (Antigravity 100% Dampening 99%) and try that, I just did it then so it does work

Try that new level The Creators Toolkit, it has a microchip with the logic you're looking for. But like others have said, anti-gravity with 100% dampening should work.2011-02-28 16:53:00

do you have nay inputs hooked up to make the mover trigger? in my experience they dont do anything unless wired up, unlike a normal mover. just hooking a battery to it (paused) before you capture it should do it.

i could be totally wrong though.

Have you anything plugged into the Mover?

Just attaching it won't apply the properties of the Tweaker. (Unlike Anti-Gravity's or Material)

Just place a Timer set to 0.1, where the output leads to its own reset & the Mover

This video should help (towards the end):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mAUv6HWUUwI

Also I just used an antigravity tweaker as others have said yesterday and it works. I also experimented and put the movers on a sequencer and it works. But I'm going to try the other way it's done in the above video as it looks as if you don't have to cut out a section in a layer to have a platform move/go back into a layer.

Objects require space and time to be able to move between layers: space, in a sense that nothing is blocking it in the direction it needs to go to, and time, it will not move instantly and when it finally moves it will take its sweet time; if your object is not stationary, during that short delay it may have already moved to a spot where there is no space to move.

AFAIK, materials like white and dark matter cannot move.

Also, Deftmute's suggestion of hooking up a battery is definitely worth checking.

EDIT: skip that 'not instantly moving' bit; that rather had to do with slow tag sensor response in my case and not the response time of In/Out Movers. The mover does take its sweet time to animate, though.
