Need help with creating level with top-down perspective

So, I looked in the tutorials and do not see a topic on this. How would I go about creating a top down perspective (like old zelda) in the game. I know how to make a top down car, but I want to control a sackbot in that perspective. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, whatever space I don't use in a level will be automatically trimmed off in play mode when I'm done my level correct?

Get a DCS and an advanced mover. Edit the settings of the DCS so that the left stick up/down and left/right is wired to the left/right and up/down inputs of the advanced mover. Next, edit the mover settings to have 100% acceleration and De-acceleration. This makes your character moveable in all directions without it falling to the ground.
You can add rotators and gyroscopes to make it work the way you want it to.
