controlinator with multiple people

hey there sackfolks! Ok so here's the deal, at the end of the level i'm working on you enter a controlinator to control a vehicle, this part i only want to have this one vehicle, is there a way I can make it so that when I enter this vehicle it makes all other players automatically enter different controlinators so that they can spectate the part while the one person controls it? I could just say I want the level as 1p only in the description but sometimes people don't listen to that and play with multiple people then dislike your level cuz it messed up with more, so any help will be appreciated! | 2011-02-26 17:20:00 Author: jjdragon Posts: 257 |

You can also have a player sensor set to players = 2, that activates a speech bubble to remind players that this section is meant for 1 person and other players must spectate. For the question, yes you can use multiple controllinators. Have one controllinator set up normally. Then have the others only become active once a player enters the main one. (Note that the logic for shutting down a controllinator is the opposite for shutting down microchips. Microchips have an on/off input. Why not put in the 4 controlinators and don't connect 3 of them to anything. In any level with a single vehicle there can only ever be one driver. Without knowing more about the vehicle or the circumstances it's hard to think of anything else. Possibly come up with something for the other players to do? What you do is wire the output from the main controllinator (the little ON symbol) to a NOT gate and wire the NOT to the eject input on the other three controllinators. Set the other three to have a large detection range and set them to auto-enter. When a player enters the main seat (which will be the only one anybody CAN enter at this point), the other three will become active and pull the other players into them. I concur with the suggestion that you ought to give the other players something to do. They're not going to be having any fun if all they can is watch the other guy drive. And keep in mind that not everybody who plays a level even sees the description: some people get to the level via "dive in," so you can't blame them for bringing two or more players to a "one player level" (in fact I would argue that, aside from extreme circumstances where there's absolutely no way to support mp, there shouldn't be any single player only levels). | 2011-02-27 01:44:00 Author: Sehven Posts: 2188 |

Sehven is correct 100%, and I think using the 2 ore more sensor is a good idea with a warning. I had to do the same with a pod that had impact sensors...the other players inthe pod would cause them to detect impact somehow. Just made it turn on and off others based on player one entering, and added a speech bubble that said for passanger saftey please remain seated until pilot exits controls...and had that prompt each time a player tried to do something in the controllinator (without camera to prevent other players from messing with driver). | 2011-02-27 03:56:00 Author: celsus Posts: 822 |
