The Imaginosphere: A Community game project [CANCELLED]

Archive: 19 posts

Update: Due to lack of interest and level creation in the project, I've decided to cancel farther developement of the series. It will not resume unless interest increases.

There is an identical thread on LittleBigWorkshop, but I figured I'd get a little more response here. I don't think it's against the rules, so what the heck.

There we go. The scrolling was messing up on me so I couldn't accurately copy, so I'll just have this link here.

I guess you can count me in as well. But can you expand upon what exactly we will be creating whilst we are taking part in this?2011-02-26 03:39:00

I shall judge your levels and see if you're worthy of joining the epicness that is the Imaginosphere (it ain't that epic, though).2011-02-26 04:18:00

I have created a new account for the Imaginosphere project called Imaginosphere.

I will be managing the project from that account, and I'll only be friending approved participants on that account.

You have been accepted as a participant in the Imaginosphere. Sorry about the late evaluation, I've been busy making world 1 lately.

If anyone here on LBPC has been approved, please join the group I set up called Imaginosphere LBPC Team. It will make discussing the Imaginosphere easier.

I understand. Besides, I got a pretty good team already, and I'm always open for new participants.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I just noticed Captain's quote up there, and I'll go ahead and give an explanation on the participants role within' the Imaginosphere (which I'll probably reveiw with the participants in-game anyway ).

The participant's role in this project is to make their own, 1 to 3 level long worlds that are within the Imaginosphere. Sackboy will be traveling though all these worlds on his way to the center of the Imaginosphere. These worlds are basicly whatever the creator of the world wants it to be, and the only limit is the imagination of the creator. Other then the specifications noted on the LBW thread, the participants may create a world of their wildest dreams (and they may get very wild O_o ). Participants may also have other players (friends or participants) help them out, and if 2 participants are working together, they may combine their worlds to make a longer, more then 3 level world.

If that didn't answer your question, then you may contect me (preferably my Imaginosphere account) in-game, and I'll be able to answer your questions there.

Sorry that this hasn't been active and World 1 hasn't been released yet. I've been suffering from a good bit of creators block on the middle part of World 1-2. I will try to get it done, and hopefully it'll be out by the end of this month. 2011-03-24 01:19:00

If the project is still in work send me a message on psn (Freedomf63)...no "( )" and Ill see if I can help you with level design, although coming from LBP1 I'm having a little trouble recreating open/close doors, but I know its an easy thing to learn.

The past couple weeks I've just been keeping notes, diagrams, and instructions to LBP2...10 pages and still going, but yah hit me up

I shall look at both of your current levels, just so long as they're LBP2. Glad to see some interest in the series picking up again.

Here's some more good news: I've come out of my creator's block, and filled in a large section of the level. While I got plenty more to do, I have it all planned out in my head. Hope you guys like platforming......and donuts.

@Freedomf63: It seems you have 0 published LBP2 levels. I need a LBP2 level to look at in order to make sure you're capable of participating in the Imaginosphere.

so basicly, each participant is a creator curator and gets to create there own story-ish world?

if its like that, count me in.

Usually, I would have a posted a few news casts on the Imaginosphere's progress and such, saying how far the members have gotten in thier world construction and what plans I have for the Imaginosphere. Unfortunitly, the PSN is down and I'm unable to run the Imaginosphere or post news in the main thread on LBW.

So at this time, the Imaginosphere is at a standstill until the PSN servers are restored. I haven't abandoned the project, and will once again resume running it once I am able to access the PSN.

So now that the PSN is back up, the Imaginosphere can resume. Unfortunitly, my urge to play and create on LBP2 has been a little low lately, so I haven't gotten any Imaginosphere content done during the outage. This is probably due to lack of initial interest and plays, which I hope will change as more levels are added.

So, I made myself a little to-do list for the project. Here it is:

Imaginosphere To-Do List:

-Obtain the current status of the participant's world construction and evaluate any levels that are complete or partially completed.

-Recruit new members to the project (either though LPBC members volunteering or me asking others to join).

-Update the Imaginosphere Prologue for possible entry in Mechinima Competition (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=53288-LBP-Machinima-Competition-Win-A-Crown-amp-More!-(Deadline-TBC)) ( I was going to update it at some point anyway).

-Update Imaginosphere Main Level with intro movie.

-Complete the Imaginosphere HUB.

-Promote the Imaginosphere (if I can find an effective method to do so without bugging anyone).

Current Participant World Statuses:

koodoo25: Pre-outage: World ?-1 completed, World ?-2 in-progress. Post-Outage Status: Unknown

Radio447: Building level, has not been evaluated yet.

mikemichaelmic: No progress done due to his current project and real life. Put on indefinate hold.

WillPalro: Pre-outage: World ?-1 completed, World ?-2 in-progress. Post Outage status: Unknown

slop98: Unknown

burton18000: Unknown

itastelikechikin: Unknown

As you can see, a good portion of the participants haven't done anything that I know of, which I was actually warned about when I started this project. I intend to warn them about their unknown statuses soon. This is also one of the reasons I'm looking for more participants. In the end result, those who join but don't get any progress done will end up being kicked out of the project.

I intend to post more news as news comes up. If anyone has any interest in joining, please send a join request to the LBPC Group (http://www.lbpcentral.com/forums/group.php?groupid=831) and I will evaluate your skills though your levels.

Thanks for reading,
