Creating HUD directions - help please

In some of the community levels I've played recently I've noticed people have added HUD directions that toggle up. These are the same ones you see in create mode that pop up on the bottom of the screen that tell you what button to press to exit a controllinator ect. ( the ones in green with the pic of the button then what it does) Does anyone know how to create these or add them to a level. I've searched every where for a tutorial on this with no luck. If someone could assist me or point me in the right direction that would be appreciated.

On the controllinator, hover your popit cursor over the wiring output for the button you want to label and press square to tweak.

You'll see it's labelled with the name of the button, and you can edit that. Whatever you name it will show up on the HUD.

I don't want to hijack this thread but as op's question should be answered I might add a related question:
Does anyone know how to integrate the controller icons into a regular speech bubble text? MM levels have this, where a story character tells you what to do , e.g.:
"Press {Button Icon} to Jump" in a regular speech bubble.
I assume it is some kind of keycode, it would be awesome if we also could use this.

It is possible, but not exactly like MM did it., just use Holo Material appear basicly where you want it to, lets say press a button to read a sign.
you have to make the sticker (or idk if you get it) of the button and emit it, however for it to work, it has to be with a sackbot and alot of other logic...

But making it happen, yes it is possible, only not like MM did it

I'd like to know why that's Mm only and not available to players. While it's best not to rely on verbose instructions, sometimes we have to. And in those situations being able to use icons would reduce said verbosity.2011-02-26 17:28:00

Thanks I new I was missing something simple!

I had went as far as creating a sequencer with a bunch of emitters and created my own animated display-ish. Although I created it myself and I didn't use holo material it did have physical presence in the level.

Can't help you with that one Freak42. It is funny you ask that cause it was a solution to my problem I considered but hadn't really explored yet.
