This Is Science - Battle Monkey Sackbot Demo

This is actually the first level I started designing in LBP2 but I kept getting sidetracked and working on other things instead. Now that I've moved on from Pac-Man, I managed to finish the introduction / tutorial that lets you take control of the Battle Monkey Sackbot and use dangerous powers to your advantage.

Let me know what you think. Namely I want to get feedback on a few key issues:
-Does the level adequately explain how to clear the current obstacle?
-Does the control scheme feel awkward or unnatural? If so, in what ways?
-By the end of the level, do you feel you would be comfortable using the Sackbot in an unguided environment to solve puzzles that take advantage of its abilities?
-Did you find any of the achievements? If so, do you like the achievement system / should I add more and keep it in the full level?

That said, I'm willing to review levels if you'll review mine, but I don't have a second player readily available so no Versus levels, please.

I've mostly been avoiding movie levels since I'd yet to see one that wasn't dull and bland, but yours is actually really well made and makes me want to play the levels. Let me know when they're finished, I'll definately check them out.2011-02-26 04:08:00

I just played this level, and I really enjoyed it. I love the concept because it's very unique there are many different things that you can do with it. There were a few parts where I wasn't sure exactly what I was doing at first, but for the most part I got it, maybe a way to avoid this would be making a mini cutscene showing the path opening up or have a sound effect when the path opens up. As a whole I thought that this level did a very good job of introducing the concept.

Overall I was very impressed with the level and am looking forward to what else you can do with the concept.

Thanks for the feedback so far. I've made some changes and republished the level. Namely, I changed the controls a bit. The Dpad hotkeys were better than using L2/R2 to cycle elements anyway, so I just got rid of the cycling and added an explanation of the Dpad to the start of the level. Now, L2 acts like it does with Sackboy and prevents you from moving. This allows you to aim upward without inadvertently shifting layers and aim left and right without running. Some of the radio messages have also been edited to either reflect changes or improve clarity, and your attacks are a little more animated.2011-02-27 06:55:00
