Automated wheel

Archive: 6 posts

Alright, I need to find a way to make a 1-layer wheel to move left/right on its own. I've been thinking about it, but nothing comes to mind... I'm sure it includes a motorized bolt and a thin layer somewhere...but eh. Any ideas?2008-11-22 17:02:00

You're gonna have to have something for the motor bolt to work against. If you have a huge wheel and a thin piece of material behind it, the thin piece will move before the wheel will. You'll have to find a way to get the wheel to work against something else so it will roll.

Either that or you can strap rockets on the inside of the wheel. That might be less predictable though.

I think if you make a one-layer circle and put a motor bolt in the center, it will roll on its own.

Then you can just set up a couple of sensors connected to the motorbolt to do "reverse direction" or whatever trigger mechanism you want.

A thin layer donut glued to the back of a thick layer donut and a thin layer wheels on the motorized "vehicle?" should help hide any bolts. Then you can cover the whole thing with another thin layer on the front. That might work.

It's more than 1 layer but I cant think of any other way to hide the workings.

Had tried it, didn't work... x_x

Hmmm... I'll find an alternative, I guess.

I tried doing that for hours, and no luck.

So then I put rockets on the sides of the wheel :/
