The Madness Series
Archive: 9 posts
Hey all, Since my comments on LBP2 get buried by spam I might as well make a thread here to discuss the Madness series. I am currently working on a sequel to Corridors of Madness (http://lbp.me/v/xbgkk4) which will include: An improved pseudo-3D engine An original story with multiple endings Deeper adventure gameplay More modes of gameplay An original soundtrack that I composed myself And much more! It will pick up where the original left off, after you, the captain, escape the Goliath. So far the introductory cut scene is complete and much of the game logic is setup and most of the scenes have been storyboarded. Time permitting, I hope to get it out within a week's time. I have also written about 3 songs and will bring it up to 5 or 6. For a small preview, here is one of the tracks here: http://www.youtube.com/user/MrFoofles?feature=mhum#p/u/3/detpDCQ03pw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=detpDCQ03pw The game's music will typically be a lot darker and minor key heavy. As usual, all music will be available as a prize. I am also planning a 3rd entry in the series that will take a departure from the pseudo-3D and graphic adventure gameplay. I will reveal details soon. | 2011-02-25 17:59:00 Author: Foofles Posts: 2278 |
I can't wait. I really enjoyed the first one. mainly for the point and click parts because there was only 1 enemy on the pseudo 3D parts. | 2011-02-25 20:04:00 Author: DarrienEven Posts: 217 |
Sounds great. I especially like the idea of multiple endings. | 2011-02-25 20:20:00 Author: Wayward Posts: 120 |
There will be different kinds of enemies and new ways to fight them as well While I Was making corridors I kept tweaking the enemies strength, at some points they were insanely vicious, in some points they were almost harmless. They are a little easy now, but the enemies in the sequel will be varied. A few will also have long range attacks. | 2011-02-25 23:35:00 Author: Foofles Posts: 2278 |
I'm just curious, Will there be a succesor to bunny blasters in it? | 2011-02-27 03:48:00 Author: DarrienEven Posts: 217 |
Ooh! I'm shaking in my shoes just thinking about what you could do when you master the puesedo 3D enging! (it's so complex, I can't even pronounce it!) Ever think of adding some sort of co-op support in? Like, secret areas, or another teammate? | 2011-02-27 04:19:00 Author: grayspence Posts: 1990 |
I'm just curious, Will there be a succesor to bunny blasters in it? I promise at least one new minigame, and plenty of surprises through good old fashioned pointing and clicking! All sorts of whacky scenes and dialogue will be tucked away, waiting for a thorough player to uncover Ooh! I'm shaking in my shoes just thinking about what you could do when you master the puesedo 3D enging! (it's so complex, I can't even pronounce it!) Ever think of adding some sort of co-op support in? Like, secret areas, or another teammate? The thermometer cost of the rendering engine would raise exponentially with each player added but it is possible to add other players to the 3D portions. I'm keeping in consideration as I watch the thermo cost, I'm mainly designing this for a single driver experience so if the choice is left between multiple players or a deeper adventure experience, I'm gonna go with the latter. Though I will say the rendering engine is improved and each unique "corridor" will have its own set of visuals. But that doesn't mean there might not be a surprise minigame with multiplayer capability ... ... | 2011-02-27 14:42:00 Author: Foofles Posts: 2278 |
I don't know if anyone still cares, but this is almost done I think the tally of original tracks now stands at 5. All available as prizes. (Full tracks, not including short little musical interludes) Another thermometer buster, I'm trying to keep it within 2 level slots. If you thought the action or puzzles in the first game were too easy... well, you'll be in for a treat there is a heavy emphasis on point and click style puzzles in this game. | 2011-03-11 19:01:00 Author: Foofles Posts: 2278 |
I can't wait! You music is always wonderful; I usually play your level just to listen to them. Anyways, I'll be keep on the lookout for it! Would offer any help I could do, but obviously you won't be needing any. x) | 2011-03-12 02:43:00 Author: Jedibrad Posts: 85 |
