Stop the game sequencer

Archive: 9 posts

Hi, I'm currently working on making an ice beam. I have it working with mediocre difficult logic because I can't seem to get sequencer to react to outside conditions. Here's the thing, I want an enemy to have preprogrammed movement. I want this movement to continue uninterrupted until ice beam hits it. Once ice beam hits it, I want the sequencer to stop until ice melts. Once ice melts I want sequencer to start again.

I have logic for ice beam working perfectly without sequencer, but I would really like to use the sequencer so enemy patterns are much simpler to execute. I've tried putting it on loop and putting it in a microchip that turns off when ice beam hits. But even though microchip turns off, the sequencer stays on and continues to work. Any ideas?

Also, as a sidenote. I have another very weird problem that occurs with wall and ceiling interaction. I have a ball and it rolls up a right wall, right to top diaganol wall, top/ceiling wall, and top to left wall perfectly. But when navigating on left wall the controls get inverted. Only happens on left wall. Any ideas?

As for your sequencer I'm not sure besides connecting something to the reset input of the sequencer if that is any help to you
Sorry I don't know about your other question

You can use a timer to feed your sequencer. Change your sequencer to "positional". You can set your timer to "Start/Stop" and then when you have an input on the timer, it will start your sequencer. When you stop the timer, your sequencer will stop where ever it left off.

Does that sound like what you want?

You can set a sequencer on a separate microchip. Then, regardless of what the sequencer is doing at that moment (and it can continue to do so, I guess), you can turn its output void by switching off the hosting microchip entirely.2011-02-25 18:09:00

Just use the on/off input setting of the sequencer. It sounds like you are using the start playing forward setting instead.2011-02-25 18:19:00

That sounds exactly like what I want, because I want the enemy to continue its movement as if it wasnt even affected after the ice melts off of it. Where, if I may ask, is the "positional" setting and how do I apply it? Thanks for assisting!2011-02-25 18:37:00

I haven't tried it, but does the on/off setting resume where it left off? If so, then this is the best answer.

Okay, I will definitely try the on/off when I get home. I just hope it holds position. Thanks again for help! Any ideas on left wall problem?2011-02-25 19:59:00

Thank you rtm for the oversight you provided me about start stop. I am really starting to love sequencers! I now have a door that works on metriid logic. So awesome.2011-02-26 15:06:00
