Archive: 26 posts
I got this... "object" from a glitch level and they called it V-Matter it is un-tweakable, and it is "icy" (Makes sounds like Ice, chunky, rolls or slips)! Does anyone know what this is any help appreciated ![]() | 2011-02-25 16:20:00 Author: chinook3 ![]() Posts: 453 |

Doesn't sound very useful. Does it "look cool" or something? | 2011-02-25 19:00:00 Author: CYMBOL ![]() Posts: 1230 |
I believe it was found in LBP1. It is a glitched reflection material that shows the wilderness background... kind of... http://i6.lbp.me/img/ft/126a0f0c52421a06cba2f13f4037982b764d74b3.jpg It moves in a strange fashion, bouncing across the floor and making a strange 'squish' sound. It can be changed into any other material and acts the same way. (excluding the glitched reflection) It was in one level that was on the Cool Levels first page for about a day, and it came with other glitched objects like an unlethalized plasma ball and the helmet of the creatinator on it's side. EDIT: I dug into my recent activity and found it. http://lbp.me/v/xzf2j4 (http://lbp.me/v/xzf2j4) | 2011-02-26 01:36:00 Author: Retro ![]() Posts: 104 |
That is by far the ugliest thing I've ever seen. It's looks like a mutilated piece of bleached cloth. That is strange. Very strange. "V" for Vomit Material? | 2011-02-26 01:40:00 Author: piggabling ![]() Posts: 2979 |
If it's that, then OH DUH. yeah, basically it's everything described above C: | 2011-02-26 01:42:00 Author: Fang ![]() Posts: 578 |
Vark Matter, duh. | 2011-02-26 02:35:00 Author: Fish94 ![]() Posts: 554 |
Its any material with a glitched surface. Many, many materials have glitched backgrounds, such as taxi material has metropolis background and all the shiny ones have that background. It is obtained by slicing a very thing corner off a piece of material, then you enlarge it, then you got a tiny corner off, enlarge, and repeat a few more times. It is VERY glitched. However, almost every single material in the has some sort of background like that. Sticking on a black sticker sometimes helps you see, but not always. | 2011-02-26 05:01:00 Author: ATMLVE ![]() Posts: 1177 |
Looks like what the MM team came up with when they tried to add the ice hazard to LPB2! :S | 2011-02-26 14:10:00 Author: grayspence ![]() Posts: 1990 |
That background glitch is interesting. could it also be a conversion problem from 1 to 2? Queued the level. Also is that legit ratchet and Clank costume I missed somehow? | 2011-02-26 14:17:00 Author: thecatreturns123 ![]() Posts: 84 |

It's from the Collectors Edition you didn't buy. It also was a preorder bonus on Amazon, I believe. This looks very interesting. Queued! | 2011-02-26 16:23:00 Author: gamerC0LA64 ![]() Posts: 274 |
Whoa never seen that before O_O. Looks strange, looks like if it fell from a ufo and landed in some cornfield or something...Does MM know about this?... | 2011-02-26 17:30:00 Author: Bloo_boy ![]() Posts: 1019 |
I also think I found out what that guy a long time ago said is "White Matter" not Light Matter, "White Matter"... It's Light Matter but no texture is shown... http://i7.lbp.me/img/ft/a1736417b26a32ba542fe9ae9eacca4d1130c787.jpg | 2011-02-26 18:03:00 Author: chinook3 ![]() Posts: 453 |
White matter can be found above the level 'Gripple Grapple' which you can get to by getting high momentum and grappling in a small space which has a grabbable light above. It has walk-through dark-matter and what acts like light matter but no texture is shown as explained by chinook3 above^ | 2011-02-27 00:46:00 Author: Retro ![]() Posts: 104 |
Except the one a showed above I made you take glass make a square in small grid keep cutting and enlarger the glass and you get a glitch and change it to Light Matter and BOOM!!! You have something like that, even though it is still tweakable it doesn't do anything to it | 2011-02-27 00:54:00 Author: chinook3 ![]() Posts: 453 |
yeah kinda old if its what i'm thinking of. its the glitch to make smooth glass and if you go even farther you get a material that bounces around and spazes | 2011-02-27 01:24:00 Author: FocusRSdude ![]() Posts: 145 |
Yeah, the reason some materials look like they have backgrounds on them is because they are supposed to be reflective, and part of the reflection would be the environment, so, an image of the background is used as the texture's reflection map. It's the same as on the Space Suit's helmet. There's a "reflection" of the Gardens. | 2011-02-27 01:49:00 Author: alexbull_uk ![]() Posts: 1287 |

As I mention in this post (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=50759-Tiny-visible-digital-numbers-in-create-mode&p=789823&viewfull=1#post789823), if you increase the scale factor to a certain point, the material texture is no longer rendered, and FWIW, if you do this with Light Matter, it ends up looking very much like the above photo. In either case, perform the invisible materials (https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=17759-Creating-Editable-Invisible-Material-In-Seconds) trick on them, and if they start looking like a recognizable material before they vanish, you'll know that's all it is. Either way, be careful with these, they can (at least in LBP1) crash the PS3 in some cases. | 2011-02-28 01:38:00 Author: Aya042 ![]() Posts: 2870 |
hmm.. That would be useful for levels that have to do with ice, like maybe a remake of the titanic material, i'm sure that it's ugly enough to crack the side of the ship. ![]() | 2011-02-28 03:04:00 Author: flamesterart ![]() Posts: 585 |
It's the mirror glitch all right. The mirror glitch increases a material's bumpmap size relative to its actual size. If it's increased far enough the bumpmap will disappear and the object will start behaving very weirdly (because the rounding errors in the game's calculations will grow large enough to have an actual effect on it). | 2011-02-28 20:30:00 Author: Blue Helmet ![]() Posts: 306 |
It's the mirror glitch all right. The mirror glitch increases a material's bumpmap size relative to its actual size. Upon testing, it doesn't actually increase the bumpmap size, it just stops being applied after a certain size. I bet MM would've loved to have fixed this, and the invisible materials bug, but it would break so many levels. ![]() TBH, if they ever do make an LBP3, they ought to consider throwing back-compat in the bin in favor of making the system actually work. | 2011-02-28 20:53:00 Author: Aya042 ![]() Posts: 2870 |
