Not Another Crane Game

Archive: 15 posts

Hi all,

I just finished upgrading the first minigame that I made in LBP, for LBP2. I'm quite pleased with the result. So I'm reintroducing it to everyone.

I had to tweak it to deal with some LBP2 lighting issues, so you'll have to forgive the lightning barrier between you and the prizes. At least it adds an extra bit of light to the gameplay.

Anyways, the controls are simple.

Three levers, each controlling a different function of the crane. Works even better with two players.

Catch the prizes one by one.

Then jump to the prize bin, and collect your points.

In case you hadn't already noticed, all the prizes are made of point bubbles. Which means that the more prizes you catch at once, the more points you get.

Currently, my mother has the high score (yes she does).

Now for the newest added feature to the game. You can spend the your points to win fabulous prizes!

Patience and skill recommended, but not required.

Enjoy! Any feedback is appreciate.

Considering the amount of effort you put into feedback its a bit sad you get nothing in return. I'll play this now and try my best to give good feedback 2011-03-05 19:51:00

hi i played your level
nice level! but why is it a lbp2 level? is it imported from lbp1?
cause you include all 3 crane movers into just one controllinator. i think that would be more fun and more handly if you can move the crane with your controller directly instead pulling this sticks what doy ou say?

plz do a small review of this level: skunk bunny adventures: swifon chronicles
the link is in my signature thank you!

Had a go on this, didn't actually play many lbp crane levels to be fair. I enjoyed it quite alot but i think maybe a time limit or attempt limit would really put the pressure on and add another element into the mix. If your interested in the idea and haven't got to grips with lbp2 logic pm me.

please leave feedback on the first level in my sig, thanks.

I nearly gave this a nay but then I checked myself. This is an ok crane game. It has a few more features than many crane games out there. It not your fault I don't like crane games. It just felt very dry and slow.2011-03-10 00:03:00

Hi, I just played your level.
That's a very interesting idea, but you could have used a controllinator instead of 3 levers.

Anyway good work, the game is as difficult as the real claw games xD

Please leave me feedback at my level https://lbpcentral.lbp-hub.com/index.php?t=56955-Math-Millionaire-Quiz

Well I've decided to give into popular demand and publish a version of this level with the controlinator, and I'm surprised to admit that I actually prefer the newer version. I was able to catch all the prizes in record time, and it actually wasn't a chore to complete. It's under the name Not Another Crane Game! 2.0. Give it a try, when you get a chance.

My next goal is to program it to work with two and three players.

Also, I know I haven't been the best F4F'er. I promise to catch up on those soon.

Really, with all the features of LBP2, this doesn't feel an upgrade at all.
Using the 3 levers is REALLY PAINFUL AND SLOW, and breaks the level.
Please, put a controllinator in their place. It would be much better since now you can do it in LBP2.
Also, the level looks very ugly!
You should change materials, make it look like a real theme park, with glass, colored metal and stuff.

Sorry if i'm being harsh, but you can really improve this a lot, and i haven't seen much improvement here.

Please play my Zelda Level and leave feedback on the level page!

Version 1.0
The level was not very good. The three levers were a real pain. Details were also a little lacking.

Version 2.0
I saw a HUGE improvement. The use of a controlinator made collecting prizes far more easier. Details still a little lacking.

Please try my level if you want to.

Got multiplayer working. Still working on a few tweaks, but the important thing is that it's working.

Anyways, I'm going to make a new thread for the 2.0 level, as it seems people are playing the original.
