Running into problem with tag sensor for tags on same level

I have a sliding door in a pocket on the back layer that moves in/out to the front layer and back to block a path. On this door I am trying to set up a tag with the sensor only able to detect it when the door is moved forward to the front layer. However, the tag sensor detects the tag on the back layer, middle layer, and front layer. Is there a catch to using sensors to detect tags only on the same layer as the sensor? My objective is to confirm that the door has closed properly since an object or player in the way of the door will prevent it from moving forward in layers. Thanks in advance. Thank you for stopping by, and I think I have solved my fault. The problem seems to be that the tag sensor was on a three layers thick material, so I am guessing that it counted all three layers as being the same layer.
