Sketching And Plans

So recently I decided to sketch my levels out before making them (as suggests on forum) but had a quick question do you sketch out logic as in if ur level needs lots of logic to work the way you want it too

Sketching out logic tends to be a waste of time. It takes a lot to time, and you can't really see how it works until you get into it.

But if you're planning on making some complicated logic, you might want to write it out first. Basically, outline it in words. It really helps when it comes to making the actual thing.

There are people who Sketch logic, but...it would be kinda silly XD I mean Logic is Logic, thinking in the moment, not like some kinda of math thing you plan I mean...in simple Answer, you cant make a logic of something that you dont know exactly how it will work, Behave, incorporate it in the level.

It has to be in the moment, while making the level, then when your there you can plan it, but just leave the sketching etc for levels and the logic you get on that once making the level .

I do try to sketch out some of the logic. First I write out a detailed description of what i want to happen, then I sketch out different ideas using basic notation. It's easier for me than trying to do it in LBP to start with unless I have a very clear idea of how to do it.

Simple things you can do in game, but when you get into multiple inputs, emitted objects, and several controllinators, it can get pretty confusing. In those instances, it can make a lot of sense to draw a basic sketch before diving in and starting to connect wires..

I am struggling a bit with logic, so it helps me to at least sketch down what I have seen in tutorials so I can flip to them if I find I've done something wrong.2011-02-25 05:41:00

I keep notes on what sackbots/objects contain what tags and such. But what I build generally involves a lot of captured objects so for me it helps avoid strange conflicts/undesired logic activations.2011-02-25 06:03:00

A trick you can also do is sketch it, then write what you want it to do, then sketch what it might look like.

Also, you can stick the yellow sticky notes in create onto the circuit boards themselves.

Yeah, writing or thinking of the logic in words is very helpful. Use words like, "IF I'm pressing this and THIS is also active, I want THIS to happen,"
