Concerning Sackbot directions
Archive: 7 posts
Is it possible to have a sackbot that you control only be able to move in one direction (say, right)? Since the left/right output is the same. I'm no logic magician so any kind of botched method will be welcome, even someone telling me with authority that it's impossible will be good. Thanks (: | 2011-02-24 11:43:00 Author: JonnysToyRobot Posts: 324 |
Doesn't this work? DCS L/R stick output > Signal splitter > [+] output > Advanced mover L/R input. | 2011-02-25 11:10:00 Author: Antikris Posts: 1340 |
1. Take the left stick controllinator output, and feed it into a direction splitter. 2. The the negative output of that direction splitter, and feed it into the positive input of a direction combiner. 3. Take the output of that direction combiner, and feed it into the input of the controllinator's left stick. I've never done this before, so wear safety goggles when you try it. Upon pressing left on the stick, Sackbot will either: -Remain stationary, -Convulse on the spot, or -Seperate into dark and light matter, releasing a vast amount of energy and destroying craftworld in a great mushroom cloud of fluff. Do let me know if it works | 2011-02-25 12:05:00 Author: munrock2 Posts: 96 |
Okay thanks guys, I managed to do it a different (and more simple) way when messing around to see if I could do it myself before going to get my laptop. L/R Stick output > NOT Gate > OR Gate > positive input of Direction combiner > L/R Stick input Then loop the output of the OR gate into the other input to make a permanent switch. There is a way to stop though, which is to press L2 or R2 but I guess if I reassign what those buttons do that should stop. Anyway, thanks guys although I didn't use yours my way is essentially a botched up method of the first suggestion from memory | 2011-02-27 07:55:00 Author: JonnysToyRobot Posts: 324 |
Doesn't that make him permanently move right? I thought from your post that you wanted him to just not move left | 2011-02-27 10:59:00 Author: munrock2 Posts: 96 |
It does, with the level I'm doing I ended up changing it to that. Well spotted But I'm definitely planning to use a non-permanent one in the future. | 2011-02-27 11:25:00 Author: JonnysToyRobot Posts: 324 |
Alic44 has a good solution to this. Check out his tutorial on how he made his sackbot knights work. Particularly, the bit where you have 2 controllinators on the sackbot board. The first is set as a receiver, but 'override sackbot' is set to 'no'. The second controllinator doesn't send or receive any signals, but does override the sackbot. Then you wire every output from the first into the inputs on the second - except the horizontal output on the left stick. You'd split and then combine that signal to make sure the leftward portion of the signal doesn't get through. This is the level: http://lbp.me/v/yc5b34 Anyone working with sackbots should play it, there's almost definitely something you can use, or something that will spark your own innovation. | 2011-03-01 12:54:00 Author: munrock2 Posts: 96 |
