Sub or Dub?
Archive: 28 posts
This threads for anime, I like anime, alot. I know alot of people like Dubs but I wanted to take a second to alert everyone to the evils of Dubbed audio (really, in anime or any foreign film). Dubs suck for the following reasons 1) I don't like them 2) they make the show suck, pretend you've only seen anime with great japanese voice acting all your life, then you see an episode of bleach in english.. it'll blow your mind how much it sucks. 3) Subs are for people who read fast, and so stupid people can't absorb the info and jus like "man this sucks", but no its in fact much better you just have to read fast. you can talk about ADD or whatever, none of that crap exists, those people are just stupid, or not motivated. put a 19 year old 110 pound girl with C cups in their bedroom, and i bet they'll be able to keep their focus. haha, hope your mee maw aint home youngster. 4) its lazy to rob urself of the voice acting that was written with that actual language in mind, and so makes sense and soounds good. | 2011-02-23 21:35:00 Author: reiko57 Posts: 115 |
Dubbed **** it I'm not that bothered. | 2011-02-23 22:57:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
It depends...not all dubs are bad, but I still prefers sub, I mean..in fairy tale for example, I hate the Dub >_______________<. | 2011-02-23 23:16:00 Author: Bloo_boy Posts: 1019 |
I watch subs, but sometimes I look at the dub and see how the two differ | 2011-02-24 00:04:00 Author: Unknown User |
I prefer subbed as well (though I rarely watch anime these days) due mainly to reason #4. Dubbed can work well, but it's an exception rather then a rule and it only really does work well when you have both talented and experienced voice actors and editors who localize a script cleaverly as opposed to directly translating it. | 2011-02-24 04:24:00 Author: Dapiek Absaroka Posts: 512 |
I don't really have a preference when it comes to Sub or Dub. Mostly because alot of animes I watch don't have Dub. But if it does have Dub, I tend to go for it (Unless it has terrible voice acting, which it quite often does). | 2011-02-24 04:32:00 Author: Limesta- Posts: 559 |
Dub, I tend to go for it (Unless it has terrible voice acting, which it quite often does). Very true, but some are good like Naruto for example it has great voice actor (Yuri Lowental think was his name is one I can point out) . Shikamarus Voice, Gaara's all those actors are great, random did you know Naruto's voice is made by a women? Also Bleach has one of the best voice actors out there, (Ichigos Voice) forgot his name..but did you know back then he was a power ranger? pretty cool. BUt like Limesta said, some are horrible. Fairy Tail..Natsu sounds like 60 year old couch potatoe I dont like his voice much. And neither of the other characters. IN Soul Eater the only voice I lilked was Soul's and Black Star's thats basicly it =/. | 2011-02-24 14:25:00 Author: Bloo_boy Posts: 1019 |
I prefer subs, but the official dubs of some animes are very good (but still it won't feel like it does in japanese), some of the voice actors do it quite well, for example, Mikuru's english voice in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya sounds very similar, whereas on the other hand, Yoko's english voice from Gurren Lagann is kind of a fail. She sounds like she should be a voice actress in Family Guy or something. anyways, I go for subs, but dubs aren't that bad (: | 2011-02-24 14:54:00 Author: Matimoo Posts: 1027 |
ADD dosen't exist? I'm sorry but you can't just make a statement like that. ADD dosen't mean you can't concentrate on anything. I have ADD and I'm obviusly concentrating on the screen so I can type this message. I can concentrate on LBP1/2 and obviusly can concentrate on your example (: . However give me 50 maths problems and I'll lose interest after 5 minutes. Anyway I do pefer Sub. | 2011-02-24 15:38:00 Author: Junkyardassissan Posts: 164 |
I watched The Girl With The Dragon tattoo (I think) in Swedish or whatever the original language was. That would have been weird in english. Anime doesn't appeal to me so I couldn't comment on that. | 2011-02-24 16:10:00 Author: Unknown User |
when i saw the thread title i thought you were asking about dub or sub music, and was just ready to launch into a lecture on the intricacies of the evolution of modern dub... anyway, when watching anime i prefer dubbed, since as long as the american voice actors arent really annoying i dont mind having tacky lipsyncing, but sometimes subtitles are the only option (im looking at you Naruto) | 2011-02-24 20:22:00 Author: Skalio- Posts: 920 |
Subs too tiring. Dubs all the way. | 2011-02-24 22:32:00 Author: TehUberZac Posts: 587 |

Lol ADD does exist, not really sure what medical source you're getting your information from. Anyway, I see little point in watching animes in their original language because I can't understand it, and I find the concept of learning a language just for a TV show rather pointless as well. Depending on what it is, sub can be good, like I enjoyed Pan's Labyrinth (though not an anime). I really don't see the problem with dub as long as the voice actors are good, which is most of the time as far as I've seen. Does the original language have its worth? Yes. Is it enough that a big deal needs to be made about it? Only if you're a fanboy. | 2011-02-25 01:20:00 Author: Patronus21 Posts: 266 |
The only anime so far that I prefer the dub would be naruto and bleach, but probably cause I started watching the dub since the beggining, so that would probably be it >_<. Random, does anyone here know Fairy Tail? | 2011-02-25 04:18:00 Author: Bloo_boy Posts: 1019 |
Sub, I only listen to Dub if the actors/actress' are very good. I can't stand cheesy dubs. | 2011-02-25 04:30:00 Author: Maxi Posts: 1176 |
Is it enough that a big deal needs to be made about it? Only if you're a fanboy. I look like a thin redheaded viking and my screen name is reiko57, its probably safe to assume i am also I'm still callin BS on the ADD, look I hated school too, but people make too many excuses for why they cant do things, and i notice, its always things that I wouldn't wanna do either. 50 math problems? yeah screw that pass me the bong too, but lets be honest, its just because its boring | 2011-02-25 09:08:00 Author: reiko57 Posts: 115 |
I don't know what dub is... So Anime! | 2011-02-25 09:24:00 Author: Unknown User |
In some cases dub is better than subs. Digimon Tamers, the sub version of that is terrible IMO. However, I tend to watch both subs and dubs, but subs is only when a dub isn't available, for example the newest episodes of Bleach. I don't really prefer either one, each has its own pros and cons for me. Normally it just comes down to what takes my fancy if both options are available. | 2011-02-25 11:11:00 Author: Moonface Posts: 310 |
I don't know what dub is... So Anime! Taking something foreign and recording new voices in the local language. | 2011-02-25 12:50:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |

Since you don't seem to know very much about ADD and ADHD, allow me to tell you: The most common symptoms are distractibility and hyperactive/impulsive behavior. Because of the difficulties a person can have with concentration, inhibition, and mental focus, it can have extremely frustrating consequences for someone in all areas of life, not just school. At least with ADD one doesn't have the hyperactivity along with it, though they do seem to be used interchangeably anyway. 50 math problems are boring, but if you have ADHD or ADD it takes much more work to be able to force yourself to sit down and power through them. Do we all have moments of lack of concentration and mental focus? Of course. The difference is that with someone who has ADHD or ADD it is chronic and persistent throughout their daily life. Since every major medical, educational, and psychiatric professional organization recognizes it as factually existing, there's no real reason to doubt it. Is there a singular, simple medical process which can diagnosis it? No. Is there a list of criteria that can produce a reliable medical diagnosis? Yes. | 2011-02-25 20:18:00 Author: Patronus21 Posts: 266 |
Random, does anyone here know Fairy Tail? Yes i know it. it's i nice show. (BTW cute Happy icon )i watch endless animes online. Also yeah i only watch original language show came from. as a artist i understand the feeling of something should only be enjoyed in it's original form. So subs are great as you can enjoyed in it's original made to be form and understand whats going on. plus it's not hard to read people, you do all day like here at this forum, stop being lazy. *mew | 2011-02-25 20:38:00 Author: Lord-Dreamerz Posts: 4261 |

Thinking out loud, someone should make a thread about Manga or new anime Ive been seeing alot lately, Air gear, Beelzebubb *Spelling*, Heroman., Kimi no iru machi is pretty good too, not action though but pretty cool =P. Defense Devil rocks, Bleach and Naruto are still going strong, and one piece. | 2011-02-25 20:59:00 Author: Bloo_boy Posts: 1019 |

ADD is real? I just don't understand how a mutation that made people mentally tune out survived evolution this long. I just picture a caveman staring into space and getting snared by a T-rex, yeah that never happened i know, but in my mind alot of things are like that. | 2011-02-26 00:08:00 Author: reiko57 Posts: 115 |
Why would it need to survive from cave man times? Mutations can occur at any time. | 2011-02-26 00:13:00 Author: Rabid-Coot Posts: 6728 |
most certainly prefer subs. It makes me pay attention and besides, most dubs are pretty awful. | 2011-02-27 04:26:00 Author: Mr-Darkling Posts: 6 |
The only thing I dislike with subs is if you look away from the screen for a moment too long you miss the subtitle that's on screen. With dubs I can just look away and still listen to the characters without worrying about missing anything besides visuals, which I only ignore if nothing is really happening. But with subs I can only really look away if no one's talking. | 2011-02-27 10:52:00 Author: Moonface Posts: 310 |
