http://lbp.me/v/x-wgj-This level was created a while back on LBP1 and i didnt get highspeed internet to publish my levels till recently. I have added a few things, such as sackbots instead of plain one layer shapes I would love to hear any feedback, and will make use of the advise. Hope you enjoy the level

Awesome color palette, its consistant throughout the level and very easy on the eyes, the ancillary decorations like falling stars really add to the immersion without being distracting. Theres some good parts to the level but they're pretty predictable, its a good platformer but its easy to die, and not because you're trying to solve any puzzles, just a mistep and you can fall all the way through half of the level, and maybe its just my dumb luck but i fell right into a checkpoint and had to climb all the way back up. But its a great level for how it looks, the tune fits (even though its old school lol) and its a pleasant play. f4f thread in sig.2011-02-23 04:42:00

It looks goods and I like the color use as well. I did find some issues with layer switching in the stone house. This made it very hard to kill the first spider. The other two were a bit on the hard side due to the jump you needed to pull of in order to get to their ledge and land on them. I was unable to get them with out them getting me in the process.

You ask about falling issues and I had two. The first one was on the wooden bridge with the birds. Just running across the bridge I managed to fall twice. Not so bad in that case but the next one made me quit the level. I made it up the tree, swinging from ball to ball (very nice design there btw) and I got the basket down too. The jumps up that passage after the basket were on the aggravating side but doable. What did me in was the big jump after that next checkpoint, I was standing on a narrow crystal and could not for the life of me make the jump to the ledge. I fell three times, all the way down. Lucky I did free the basket so it was not as bad as it could have been. After the third fall from that same crystal I gave up.

This is a nice level with some excellent potential but I think a few things need tweaking on the game play side.

Cave exploration, find and collect treasures, I like! My only complaints are you could make what to grab more obvious. You would be surprised how many forget you can grab. The whole top with getting to the catepiller (?) to pull you up needs to be redone. It's not easy at all. Granted It was made in lbp1, but the beginning sections walking where a bit too long. Shorten or make it better. Also in the house area idk what that switch did when I get to the 2nd floor, so I eventually left it alone. You good improve alot of this with sound effects.

OK first of lovely level. I Have played one previously of yours and that was pretty awesome.

First off again the appearance of the level is very nice and consistent. Maybe a little dark at times.
The music is very good and fitting.

Now some suggestions.
There is a point near the beginning where you go into a cave and kill a catapiller. Small thing but would be nice to maybe make the cave roof a bit thicker, so you cant see the sky above it. Looks a bit odd.

Just after that where you collect the bubbles form the grass covered stones. There is a camera movement just after that and it really messes the view if your trying to get the bubbles.

I like the look of the jaggedy crystal rocks but sometimes the jumps, running can be a little clumsy because of it.

Some times the dark is a bit tiresome. Is there anyway you can make the crystals glow a bit more?

Don't take that criticism to harshly however as it was very good level.

Nice level bro. First of all NEVER say never (not rly. you can say never) Second of all never use story enemies, make your own! People will think you're a noob if you do, and you clearly aren't. I liked the atmosphere you created, and the colour correction was just right for the level! You could add original music, as long as it's nothing too cheery or loud, but something nice and sensitive. Also I think you could add something like fireflies to add to the atmosphere. ( just suggesting stuff, decide for yourself ) I gave it a Yay!2011-02-24 15:00:00

This level started out very nice. Great platforming. As soon as I saw that worm, I started to not like it. Story characters and npcs just ruin the atmosphere. The second pet peeve I had was the spiders. In my opinion, they move way too fast, their brains are extremely small and they are just really annoying to kill. The overall feel to the level is great, the atmosphere is good and good platforming. The spiders just ruin it for me, though.2011-02-24 15:48:00

Ok locknar your feedback was taken into account, i enlarged the spiders a bit, i also made the stairs inside the gatekeepers house a lil larger to make getting up them easier. spiders should be easier to kill as well. Ok at the bridge there is now lethal gas underneath it, so instead of falling and having to make your way back up, if you fall u die and theres a checkpoint now at the beginning of the bridge. Also i have tightned the strength on the bolts a bit, and the bridge is no longer AS wobbly. Also Locknar u pointed out a particular crystal of aggravation LOL so i made the crystal a thin layer and added a ledge to make things easier. thanks for your feedback.

Vinny, taken your feedback into account as well, i added a player sensor at the area with what u thought was a caterpillar (suppose to be weird flora) the player sensor connects to a checkpoint SO if it messes up no worries, theres a checkpoint above the "caterpillar"...i also added a lil poison gas so if you fall here, you will just respawn at the checkpoint above the caterpillar >.< makes things easier. Also at the gatekeeper house i added something to help see what that switch is for. Thanks for the FB Vinny.

TimeH33 your feedback is helpful as well. I fixed the first mini cave you can no longer see the sky above it. I also adjusted the camera angle where the rocks with points in them are.

Lol Potunator i am a scenery expert BUT as far as making good enemies...not my cup of tea i am horrid at it LOL. >.< ok so fireflies is a great idea, maybe the thermo will allow some added in hehe, its very near completely full. Glad u guys enjoyed it

Thanks to all for the excellant feedback. It has surely improved my level. Everyone on this site is so great and helpful...i love this community

Posting here so I can queue this level up later. lbp.me is down for me at the moment for some reason.

As for story enemies (as mentioned above) I've never thought less of someone for using them if they fit the level. I mean, mm enemies can be pretty cool. Obviously just dropping some into a level that they don't fit in is how NOT to use them, but if they fit? I never saw the problem or why people shun them so much.

RSQViper yeah i never thought that i wasnt suppose to use the enemies i collect. but i just recently got the online going for me, and finally getting other ppls feedback beside my husbands LOL.
I guess ppl want total orginality which is fine...hopefully i can build an enemy up to expectation. i built my own enemies on my Candy Land level but they turned out a lil embarrassing lookin. (so glad no one has made fun of the goofy things yet >.< ) LOL
I THOUGHT I WAS GOING TO GO INSANE WHEN LBP WENT DOWN haha...first time its happened to me >.< i freaked lol.
well lookin foward to your feedback RSQViper, and will get u urs as soon as i play it

In the house with switch to the bridge, the wall starts to close when your at the switch. The stairs in the house are frustrating to climb.
Add a camera view when you get to the bird that you grab onto. I could not tell it wasn't decoration. In the cave I had trouble see things I was suppose to grab.
Overall I liked this level. I liked the art the best. The falling fairy dust was a cool touch. I really liked the hidden bubble in the mounds near the tree.

hey iris, just checked out your level
I thought it was pretty good general, but perhaps could use a few touch ups in place:
- twice you bring up a magic mouth while i'm grabbing something, and it ends up being a bit awkward. once at the treasures in the beginning, and again at the top of the rose tree. You could probably move them and they'd feel less interrupting.
- I think the pull yourself back up rose too needs to be a little higher that was a weird spin.
- The second leaf in the vine that you go across, could go a bit farther, and it would have been an cleaner grab.
- and I think you should try to use sound effects a bit more, like maybe when you grab the birds they squawk or when you grab one of your secret treasures it makes a chime. I think that you'll find it adds a lot of depth you your level.
- finally you had a few jagged edges that you had to traverse that were unnecessary, and it's in my taste that those kinds of things are smoother

but overall a fine level

thanks for your feedback on my level =D

Thanks for the feedback fei0x i will for sure add some more sound effects and i will move the magic mouths a little to see if they are less interupting while in mid grab >.< Im thinking maybe if i increase the size of the leaf on the vine it will be a bit easier to get across.2011-03-17 23:54:00

Hey there PurpleIris!

First and foremost, I love nature platformers, and this level is exactly that, so I thank you for such an awesome concept
All of the small glitches and/or other problems that I've encountered have already been addressed by others in this forum, so I won't go through all of that again

I thought the castle had great detail, and I liked how it opened up when you entered it and shut when you left, those are signs of effort and dedication! Also, the spiders were very cool, and I had no problem encountering them. I know that coming up with your own enemies can sometimes be tough, I know this as I am still somewhat new at this game, but your progress shows. I especially liked the atmosphere and how it was consistent throughout the whole level, not to mention the lighting in the caves were very well done!

All in all, this is a great level and I can't wait to see your levels in the near future!

I likes the part one you got into the cave, but everything before the cave and the house at the end seams out of theme. try shading them. other than that, this levels pretty darned good.
