A Bubbly Garden.

http://lbp.me/v/x4q412

Based on my spotlighted PSP level, A Bubbly Garden is an intense score challenge, also my first PS3 Level. There are 3 areas that each have one secret, the secret emits arrows that guide you in keeping the combo. Very helpful, so go find them I want to remind you it is possible to have a combo going throughout a whole area. Yes, it's possible. I've done it in testing. But to get all three areas perfect in one run? That is the challenge. Good luck, go and get the highscore!

F4F: The first five to write me in-depth stuff get F4F. I'll go for LBP1, 2, or PSP. Please specify what level you want. Everyone likes specificity

If you want help finding all the secrets, use the levers at the end of the level to watch a cutscene for each one.

Thanks to Memodrix for recording this awesome video! Make sure you know that this is a older version than the current though.

Bringing out the PSP guns are we?

I've queued this one up. I've also been thinking, after I'm finished with The Space Temples of Ra'Awu on PSP and the LBPJourney Project, to bring the Space Temples trilogy to LBP2. Don't see why it couldn't work

Fun little level. Some problems with layer-switching at times but apart from that very enjoyable.2011-02-22 23:12:00

Very nice atmosphere and sound design and music to fit this. But from the pictures it seemed kinda misleading and from the title. When i first stepped i actually suspected bubbles and all that and bubble kings. It just seem so misleading and seem like you put that title there to let people play it. Its also kinda unoriginal no gameplay elements made me drop my jaw and say, Why I didn't think of that (also i fell through the level and was unable to complete it.But it is a remake and its fun and i i don't see me doing any better so heart it later2011-02-22 23:16:00

Yup I needed something to create on PS3, so I thought I might as well.. Queued eh? Can't wait to hear what you think! Btw, LBPJourney will be awesome, and I'm really excited. And space temples on PS3? 0_o (I'm imagining the awesomeness of it)

Yeah, switching layers is a harder on PS3 compared to PSP, but that adds more to the difficulty

I'm a little confused what you mean about being misleading. First off, this is based on my PSP level entitled "A Bubbly Garden." so I sticked with that. But what's misleading about it? It's a garden. With bubbles. A Bubbly Garden...

I understand what you meant by unoriginal, but the idea of keeping a combo going throughout a whole area I think is pretty darn good

(also i fell through the level and was unable to complete it.

What?!? Where?? I'll update that asap

oK first off, glad u added the explanation at the beginning. music sounds good so far. good choice. Thats a witty way to include the goal of getting the bubbles, the way the king says it.
-love the title loves great.
-Ive never seen water floating like that (bubble guys bubbles) looks cool.
decorations look really good.
looks nice how you made it get darker. change of music was a good idea too.
i didnt find any secret. maybe a clue on how they look at the beginning or end somewhere lol.
great level i had alot of fun playing it

Really like the look of the level, the design etc. A few problems with the layers as mentioned before but nothing that really ruined the gameplay. Did not find any bonuses because I was trying to rush through to get the combo's.

Maybe make the a little clearer (But maybe that will ruin the fact their secret).

Great job.

Glad you enjoyed it! If you're really stumped on finding those secrets just look at the OP (my first original post) ^^

Yeah, those bonuses are imbetween the combo areas so it doesn't mess you up, and they help you with the combos

Thanks though

This level has a beautiful landscape and the points that go with it are nice, for sure. It was certainly a relaxing platformer.
The only pet peeve I have is the layers. This was a great level, though.

I'm actually not sure! I'm kinda hitting creators block for bubbly levels, so I think I'll try something new.

Glad to hear you enjoyed it! I'm actually surprised everyone is liking the scenery, I wasn't sure if it was that good...

But what do you mean by relaxing platformer?? You do know that you're supposed to find the secrets so you can try and keep a combo going throughout a whole area right? That's totally nerve-wracking!

Anyways.. I understand the layer thing is a bit of an issue, but it does add to the difficulty. Also, I'm a PSP creator and platforming is very different on PS3.

As others said, I loved the title screen and the floating bubbles at the beginning. Interesting little premise as an excuse to explain why the level exists. I liked the arrows in part two - wouldn't mind having those everywhere. Otherwise it was kind of weird coming to a new section and having 3 ways to go, when really only one is "correct". I feel like the arrows would help with that without ruining the challenge of actually keeping the combo going.

Part 3 was my favorite - the bombs to reveal the tunnels in the middle layer were clever. I thought it was a smart design overall, with the criss crossing paths and how some of the pull switches raised you to multiple areas.

I did have a problem with one pull switch (I think in the middle of section 2) where it got stuck in the pit to the left on the top where it drops you off. I think I grabbed it on the right side and then as I got off and tried to run left, I pushed it into the little (glass) pit. Had I fallen back to the bottom, I think I wouldn't have been able to get back up again. Not a huge deal and probably not very reproducible, either.

That's strange you only had arrows in area 2. Did you activate the secret? If you read the OP like you were supposed to it explains that every area has a secret, and when you activate the secret, it emits arrows for that area.

Part 3 is my favorite too, when I added the bombs I was like 0_o THAT WAS COOL! lol. I can corner edit that one part to make it easier to layer switch. I know exactly what you're talking about. Now go and get the high score!

Oh...I totally didn't get that! I did attempt to get the switch up on the wall before that section. I kind of "climbed" up the tree and swung over. I managed to flip the switch up briefly, but it didn't stay up so I didn't think I had done it. I guess I expected the secret to be prize bubbles or something - I didn't understand that it was the arrows. Maybe you could add something in the level description, or in the intro segment making that more clear. Unless it was there and I just missed it? And maybe a sound effect when you successfully trigger the secret.

EDIT: Come to think of it, maybe the switch should be the other way around, so that you pull it down and then it stays down. That would make it more clear. You could reposition it so the handle is still in the same place to start.

Just played your level and is was a good level, the bubble chain was good I was trying to keep it going no stop, also the secretes that you put in the level was nice. There are some suggestion I have for example I suggest using the the grid a lot more or the corner editing tool to create a better visual of the level. Well this is just one suggestion I have they are others but they are super small ones.

Anyways nice level also can you play and review my new level Cryo Lab Test unless you already did lol (link in my SIG)

Fun level! I like the idea to use bubble-multipliers as the basis of a score-challenge. I like that you added the secret locations at the end as well. Give the level some good replay value! The only complaint I would have is that a few times the 'rocky' terrain would trip up my sacboy and make me break a chain. The level switching would mess up from time to time too, but thats LBP for ya.

Still was lots of fun. Nice style too. Great work!

This was a very fun level with a strong LBP1 aesthetic and happy, fun approach to the level. The bouncy music and gardens style set design are the framing for a level that is a bubble munching score challenge that is very challenging to do even when you've learned the correct routes.

As has been said before the bumpiness of the terrain can make an uninterrupted score chain very hard as the bumps can knock down your momentum or cause you slip and stumble. Of course this does add to the difficulty so I don't see this a serious flaw. There are enough bubbles and the secrets are easy enough to find that the level continually entices you to try again and just get a little better score or to improve this section over there.

You've got the checkpoints down very well in relation to the hazards but I did end up dying as I tried to get up to the second secret once squeezing up through the gap between the bending over tree and the one above it. The checkpoint I spawned from was way back down at the end of stage 1. (I fit through this gap easily the first play through but never again in any previous play through.)

The three courses offer a good variety to the platforming and bubble collecting and I like the explosives/tunnels aspect of stage three though I think that the first two stages are the best of the three.

The set elements are cleanly constructed with the streams and flowing water elements, the trees and hills. All well done.

I didn't use the cut-scene switches at the end as I'd rather find them on my own and then once I was looking they were not too hard to come across. Secrets 1 and 3 have text notifying you of finding the correct place but there was no such thing for secret 2.

I think that you've played your level too much based on your number 1 score on the score board.

I had fun on this level, good work.

I'm a PSPer so I naturally make everything boxy first, then corner edit lots. I try to go for a rustic, natural look, but I'll remember to use the grid more. Thanks for playing!

Ture, this is based on a PSP level, and if you don't know already, the platforming works much better on PSP. I left it hard to switch layers on purpose so it adds difficulty. Glad you enjoyed!

There actually is text for secret 2, did you find the cave? Anyways, thanks for the extensive review I queued your tutorial level.

Sorry for the delay in responding to your question. I actually did not find the cave which makes me want to go back and check it out for that.

I'm able to flip the switch upwards in section 2 with activates the arrows and also seems to contribute to unlocking the bonus point section at the end so I thought that was the extent of secret #2.

If you didn't intend for players to be able to activate this switch without finding the cave then you may want to do a little something here. (Jumping from the trees you can grab the switch handle. Swinging left and right you can let go when you are at your highest point on the left and the switch handle will get pushed up all the way.)

Played this level min ago, you really took me back with the garden concept on this one, I read this is a supposed remake of an actual psp level, im kinda sad I didnt get to play it sooner, cause this is a awesome Level i gotta say.

The wow factor here was the secrets, I would have usually spotted something but I had no idea, and great cutscenes to explain them btw.
All 3 areas were very well made, and while some jumps were a bit tricky and hard, its wasnt a bad thing, they were made right, thats what matters. Great visual again I love that Gardens vibe from lbp1. And of course the choice of music, it completed the garden experience which fit perfectly.

If I have to say anything, just one thing, the sections were you grab and slide, If you die its a bit tricky to get across, not hard but the camera angle you know.
Maybe make it reset to its position as soon as the sackboy lets go, with a winch or some other way im sure you can think of ^___^

Anyway, good fun level, I enjoyed it,
Gave the level a smily face and a heart, great job

I Wish It could have been a bit longer I had fun playing the level, will most likely get back at it soon

I'm glad u enjoyed it! Yeah, I actually was going to make the "zipline" go back to its position but I just couldn't logic it. (I'm a PSPer) so it was hard enough to recreate it

Very fun level! The concept is gold. The secret areas that reveal the paths is a great idea. Not many levels have much replay value. But this concept is DESIGNED for replay value. Love that. Only suggestion would be for future installments to not have such bumpy ground. I found myself following the correct path, but sometimes i didn't have enough momentum to get up some of the hills in time to keep the combo going. That's a very small complaint, though. Great fun! Smiley and a heart for you. (btw, I actually had a small area in Planet X designed for a tricky bubble combo in the caves. Not sure if people realized you could combo there.)2011-03-26 05:03:00

I know the bumpy ground is a bit tough but I want to keep the rustic natural look in the level that I had in the original PSP version.

...I'm extremely late....*cowers in fear*...
I'm really sorry! But I have come back!
The level was a nice break from all the other racers, shooters, platformers and such.
The original chaining was a toughie due my terrible skills but the hint arrows were a NICE touch, wouldn't have seen those at all! The first hint switch btw, You can easily get to it by climbing the slanted tree to the left of the entrance, no need for the mushroom and all.
It was a nice chain level!
