Emmitted tether.

I am trying to make a level as similar to the game Escape Vector as possible, there is one issue i am having trouble with, and that is the tether. in the original game (i suggest you tryit out at funorb.com) when your ship has landed near the crate a tether is deployed, allowing the crate to swing from your ship. i can only think of one way to do this, and that is a load of blocks of hologram glued to each other in a line, each with a chip on it that tells it to only be on when there is a tag at both ends of it, and with followers at the end of it. any simpler ideas of how this could be done? | 2011-02-22 20:35:00 Author: Unknown User |
I have a possible solution, create an object of 2 holograms connected with a winch ( winch set to 0 speed so it doesnt move and set length accordingly). Now, on each hologram place a microchip. on one holo place a follower with max settings that is set to follow a tag attached to yur ship, on the second place a tag. You will need to have this item emitted from your ship on demand etc. Now for the box. Give it a microchip, have a tag sensor in there set to what will be the lower hologram of the whiches tag, and have that activate an anti grav tweaker. Also set a follower with max settings to the same tag. Now when you test this it should show a chain from your ship and give the illusion of it being attached to your box which will be following your hologram on the end of the winch. I've not tested the above but I've used a similar method for something slightly different so this should work. Hope this makes sence, if not let me know and I'll try it myself and possibly provide the logic chips for you if required. Littlebig Peggles/ | 2011-02-22 20:46:00 Author: Unknown User |
Thank you soo much! ur a genius. In the actual game the tether is a solid white line, although that would not look as good, but is there any way to do that? | 2011-02-22 21:00:00 Author: Unknown User |
Maybe just a thin piece of any white material? The link can be anything really, but if using a material instead of a linking tool (rope winch etc) you may need to apply an anti grav tweaker on it and also followers for both holo's, (not sure if you can glue materials to holo's.) Might need some playing! Littlebig Peggles. | 2011-02-22 21:05:00 Author: Unknown User |
