Beware of Profile Loss!

Hello happy gadders. Today I copied the Tower of Whoop to my moon via the community, which had been captured in the BETA and I decided to remix it so it looked like it belonged in the Factory of a Better Tomorrow. I got everything perfect after 3 hours then I went to mod one thing, when my PS3 crashed and I had to restart it.

Once I rebooted my PS3 and started up LBP2 I found that my profile had been wiped. The game told me that my LBP1 profile had changed and asked if I wanted to import it - just as it does when you first start the game. So once it all loaded up I spawned in the introduction and my sackboy was plain. After having to play the introduction and watch the movie, I imported my LBP2 profile, which I had conveniently updated 2 days ago. Even though all my profile was back, I still lost 2 days of hard work on my level and all that work on the Tower of Whoop remix.

I was very lucky to have backed up my profile not long before but this happened to me in the BETA aswell, except the profile I imported had not been updated for a while. I'm just posting this thread to warn you people who are working with things imported from the BETA, and that you should all regularly back up your profiles. Unless you're strange and you want your profile to be wiped.

Actually thoe crashes happen randomly not only working on beta, i hear few people lost profile by crash on ending movie level. I bet the reason why profile goes wipe it because it crashed while updating it and cause corruption that make it unreadable so he creates new one while next loading and this can be caused by any crash. You know they don't give you warning to not turn off console when you see simbol for no reason.2011-02-22 20:19:00

You joined me and told me this when I was doing something pointlessly random in create.

If you think that's bad, I placed emitted sackboy in create earlier and it crashed my PS3. When I Turned it back on I had the YLOD! Restarted it again and it was fine....

I won't be able to play any community levels in fear of running into a beta import. Oh geez.

EDIT:
Hansel + Gretelbot caused profile wipes, so why wouldn't other imports do the same?

I won't be able to play any community levels in fear of running into a beta import. Oh geez.

Majority of them didn't have any beta-exclusive glitches, and they are harmless alone.I don't know why but there unneeded fear being produced around them and creates whole rainbow of mythology. Beta levels will be around and can't be wiped since they are not different from full versions, so you need to life with it .

You know they don't give you warning to not turn off console when you see simbol for no reason.

The thing is though, the symbol wasn't there! And when it happened in the BETA I had the customized pod which had objects in, which was a glitch. As was the copying of the Tower of Whoop.

But copying Tower of Whoop is not a glitch, ability to copy was glitch, capture tool worked the same way as in create mode, if it glitches objects this why it would glitch object captured in create mode. Pod is dangers not because it's glitch it because glitch allows to do things that rest of pod code is not prepare for which is detraction of the pod or blocking spawn point with object making your pod unusable and can be fixed without profile reset. If copied tower of whoop cause your peofile break in same way story mode tower of whoop could do that since they are practicly the same.

Thing is people around reports random crashing that kills profiles in random situations (most noturius is ending cutscene), so there might be other bug causing it maybe in profile update code

I haven't seen one person report a profile wipe that wasn't related to playing something from the beta (including Hansel and Gretelbot).

I'm no Sherlock Holmes, but seems like there is a pattern here.

Unfortunately, that doesn't help to prove or disprove anything.

The 3 people who had their systems crash while playing community levels - don't include whether they were playing a level that was imported from the beta - or if the level contained an imported beta item, etc.

The last person talks about it happening during MM's credits - well, I think we can assume MM's story level had some beta content.

But seriously though, without knowing whether those people playing the community levels played beta imported items or not - that doesn't help to figure out the issue.

Either way, it's a serious issue that MM needs to resolve immediately.

I had my profile wiped when I played one of the Hansel and Gretelbot cutscenes. Luckily I backed up my profile a few days before and only lost a few hours of random creating.2011-02-26 20:37:00

Yes but Mm specifically warned people that there are "game destroying bugs" in the BETA, which is why we couldn't have our profiles imported from it. Whether they're telling the truth or not it's best not to risk it. When I was copying the Tower of Whoop to my moon I was sure nothing bad would happen, but now I regret it.

I was okay when I played Hansel & Gretelbot, AND story mode.
And I hope Mm fix it too, or we are ALL... GOING... TO DIE!!!

Those game destroying bugs is pods and crowns via sackbots, which they was lazy too fix thinking that they wont trasfer, but eventually too lazy to fix that they leave large hole between beta and full game (but i can understand that sicne they probably been under time limit)... thats it. They didn't dramatically change level structure since keep in mind all story level was been done on even earlier versions, but they still work.
