Create Mode Improvements

Archive: 10 posts

What are some things you think can improve create mode?

I've found these things would make creating (at least for me) easier:

Microchip Lag: When things get really crazy with wires in microchips, they tend to get very VERY laggy. I think it's because all of the wires that are in it reroute whenever you put a new wire in. Maybe they could reroute everything when you close the microchip instead of after every wire.

Material Tweakers should have an "include rigid connections" option so you won't have to put it on every piece of an object.

Impact switches shouldn't activate by just touching something. Kinda ironic since they have a "include touching" option that apparently is always on.

It would be nice if you could control a sackbot just by putting a controlinator in the circuit board, and not have to make another controlinator outside of it to control it. Basically you can become a sackbot.

I'll let you guys post some other stuff that could improve. Maybe MM will see this and take action ^^.

A quicker ability to toggle the grid and angle snap options without needing to keep using the Pause Mode. I find it slows down creation a lot for me because of how much I spend going into that menu. >.<2011-02-22 20:13:00

Yeah this for sure since I know many great creators use this function as it helps keep things organized and straight.

One thing I'm sure not many people on PS3 know about is the PSP corner editor. LBP2 could have one like it; where you can select multiple corners at once by highlighting them with the popit (like you would with multiple objects) and dragging them. This is invaluable because it allows you to drag two corners of, for example, a square, and keep them parallel with each other and form a perfectly straight rectangle. Also, if you've used the LBP2 corner editor a lot you'll notice that if you have a large shape you can't go from say the bottom left corner to the upper right through the object, instead, you have to go all the way around the sides.

The include touching option includes touching things in the layers in front of and behind the object the impact sensor normally just senses its layer.2011-02-22 22:24:00

Huh? You can... A controlinator on a sackbot has inputs you can wire things to - or if you want it to be player controlled you can set it as a remote receiver controlled by the nearest player...

Here's something they need to do ( not sur if possible):

a switch/sensor/selector/... that is on an emitted object cannot be connected with wire on something else... because it is emitted. This is a serious problem sometimes.

Wireless logic is your friend. Tags can be turned on and off, basically providing a wireless output. I use this all the time when I have emitted or moving objects.

But I agree with pretty much everything else here.

Alright. I agree on his sackbot thing actually. Yes, you can do the remote-control set up, but, that does not immediately give you the ability to control the sackbot as though he where you. The Player sync process should have been made 2 step (place controlinator on board, set radius)

I'm not sure if this exactly fits here, but I have a couple of ideas for power ups.

Climbing gloves: You're seeing a lot of Sonic based levels and other such things. Why do we not have a power up that allows us to grab onto a wall, and then climb it by holding up. The grappler is a rather poor power up for such things and, additionally, the climbing gloves would be a much better Aesthetic. Better yet, configure the Power Gloves to allow for surface-walking when an object is immovable (yes, left and right too, instead of having to swing jump.).

Grav-boots: Like the gloves, only offering a game mechanic more similar to PREYs wall walking (I have a list of other examples if you would like) The boot would be settable (Ie, walk on metal only or Walk on chrome only) Boots would only be able to walk up a sloped section (90 corner = no go) and the jump away distance could be set. (how 'high" a player could jump before loosing Grav-assist)

Athletes Foot: Yes, it is named just for the lols, but no, it is not a trolling item. Athletes foot would increase a players natural running speed and jump height by amounts set on the power up (Yes, jump height can be done with gravity, but that effects everything else as well and ruins the Falling Aesthetic.

Raptor Claw (or just about any vicious animal): A power-up which brings new OOMPF to your smacks. Can be set to Dangerous or powerful (Kill or throw further)

Hazard Suit: Protects the wearer from a set hazard type (Electricity, Gas, Fire, Plasma, Explosions) Checklist style configuration so you could set exactly which hazards it protects from. Additionally, the option for an air reserve time limiter would be pretty cool too (the suit must be removed within 20 seconds of the reserve running out, much like if you are under water

A mod to the Diving Tanks: Add an Air Time Control ^.^ So we can make em think their safe, then show em they're not.

The Undernator: Yes, I know you have the creatanator. Yes, its great for some pretty cool stuff as is.. But I for one would like to see a generator which can pop an object out DIRECTLY under me. Great for say, making your own ladder as you jump or taking a break in a hard jumping section. Come on, you all know it would have some awesome implementations.

Definitely this. I'm surprised it wasn't added during the beta stages. I imagine a lot of people must have suggested it.
